The idea of your bride being a pure woman seems so ancient, and yet, believe it or not it seems that men still do, in fact want to marry a virgin. On the weekend the China Daily ran an article in which sociologists argued that men still today, attach an enormous amount of value on women who have not had premarital sex and are just as likely to devalued women based on their sexual experience. Okay, so that's China! Well, its not only China it seems. In 2008 a survey was conducted of 57,000 Australian men in which almost one in three claimed they still wanted to marry a virgin. So, that's men! Alas, now it's time to pop that emergency valium, as the Journal of Sex Research published a survey that found in the United States 61% of young women still wanted to be a virgin as they walk down the aisle. While the survey was conducted in 2001, you'd probably be able to make a safe guess that not much has changed.
Yep, it is just a nice thing knowing you bride is new and will be perfect to your making within a couple hours.. eh nights. Anyways I couldn't be a virgin bride groom (full name of 'groom'), but it'd be nice to have a virgin bride, if she wasn't that'd be ok, since it'd be reasons of love truly and not of an untapped source. Anyways that's just my half a cent (since my two cents lost it's value). =P
It's appealing only because of STD statistics that are out now. As for the novelty of marrying a virgin for the sake of being their first, well I think it's overrated. The only logical reason for wanting a virgin is for health reasons, because let's face it herpes is just something every marriage (even every relationship) could do without. (This post goes for both guys and girls) --- In reality though, for those who haven't remained virgins which is most of society, they need to realize that any person that won't marry them based on their virginity status alone, was not worth marrying anyway.
From what I gather the new trend is for girls..... Staying a Virgin vaginally but they will do anal sex instead. So Jill which would do you think men prefer? A girl whom has engaged in a lot of anal sex but stayed a virgin the traditional way, or a girl who might have had a few partners? Why am I asking Jill she never comes back......
I can see the appeal in wanting a virgin. The fact that another guy has blasted his dirty seeds inside his woman is not exactly a turn on. It's something I think most guys just try not to think about it. Now there's a huge difference in cultures where Americans tolerate it and others are so absolutely disgusted by it that the girl must be killed, even if she was raped.
I would never marry a woman that I've never had sex with, and I've never met anyone who would (outside of my grandparents generation. Sexual chemistry is important in a long lasting relationship, and I'm not willing to make that gamble.
"To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before". Wait - that's sci-fi/fantasy.... sorta the same thing, really.
To be fair Jill has responded to 2 of the 48 threads she/he started. But yeah it's a pity she doesn't engage in the dialogue.
i wonder if there's any way to make it so jill can't create a new thread until she has at least 100 posts or something.
It's nowhere near as important as it used to be, but that's probably because of the discovery of penicillin. Before the days of antibiotics, STDs, which are still unfortunately considered fairly commonplace, but easily treatable, were rife, and most of them were terminal. Therefore, marrying a virgin would be the only guarantee of not being infected from your wife. However, it has always been accepted that man should get to 'sow his wild oats' before marriage, which would frequently result in the wife becoming infected (and usually getting blamed for having been unfaithful & infecting her husband). Another benefit of marrying a virgin would have been the guarantee of any child she bore would have been yours. Medical progress has made massive changes in how we view sexual liberty.
Well, I'm a virgin, and guys aren't exactly queuing up outside my door with marriage proposals... lol
