I prefer "Puff the Magic Dragon", thier song about Jim's transvestie adventures... it's on the same album.
i love the beatles. i bet 90 percent of the people here do. i love the song with a little help from my friends ah, hell, i love splhcb all together. sorry i didnt spell that out
I think I heard of them, did they tour this summer.... Im not that good at remembering names, unless it is one that everyone talks about... Peace and Love, Jon
i would say that the beatles are 50% of today's pop music's "influences"... i mean, the beatles were one of hte first bands to have a 'formula' for success... and then they totally went off into something different, making albums as stories, and doing fantastic things. my favorite is the white album, hands down.
I must admit, notwithstanding some of the dopey posts in this thread, it is heart warming to see very young people who can appreciate their music. I would gently disagree that they influenced only 50 percent of today's music, much and many more in my opinion. They were simply amazing and since I lived in London when Beatlemania thrived I can tell you it was the best experience of my life. Just the fun of walking accross that crossing on the Abbey Road album was just amazing ...
well the only reason why i say 50% is because the betles themselves were influenced by many, many other earlier artists (american and british)... so i can't give the beatles all the credit for that... because think about it, much of the popular music today, in the states at least, is based on rock AND soul type stuff... things that the beatles never really touched on. but as far as "good music" goes, i could give them a much higher percentage.
Miami you are absolutely right ... in fact they loved American R and B of the 50's and covered many Little Richard and the Inkspots songs for example. Long Tall Sally, You really got a hold on me, Roll over Beethoven, thats just from memory. They also loved Elvis and met him I think, but they never covered him. They were also influenced by George Formby and Lonnie Donegan and other British greats from the 40's and 50's. You are obviously a smart musician in understanding this ... music flows from generation to generation, which is why it is silly to say this or that is better (although rap is a con LOL, music for people who can't sing - I couldn't resist it). My point is that The Beatles were the musical pinnacle in the 20th Century at least, in popular music anyway. I would accept Hendrix, Dylan, CSNY, Nirvana and many others were amazing but in much narrower fields - in their time The Beatles were as popular with teenagers as they were with grandmothers. I lived through it and it wasn't just the music that was great it was the whole feeling - ask anyone over 50 who lived in London, NY or SF, the only places worth living in the 60's.
Omg Zanman And Miami Musician>>> You Guyz R My Heros!!!!!1111!!!!! U No More About Da Beetles Den Ne1!!!!111!!!! I'M BREAKING IT DOWN TO DER ABLUM "BACKSTREETS BACK" RITE NOW!!!!111!!!!!
Omg ..sigh the Beatles are just it for me. They totally influenced every generation. I mean back in the 60s there was the obvious beatle mania, but i mean im 16 years old and i have a many friends (not enough however) who just adore those fabs. I think there music totally trancends age and generations. They are totally the influence for so many artists today, but I agree that they were also influenced by alot of others too, like Perkins, Berry, Elvis. Who's everyones favourite Beatles? Mine is George closely followed by Paul
