I guess the obvious one would be Ellen. I thought it was really brave of her to come out to the world when there were no other out and famous lesbians on television. She risked her career and for that I respect her. Shane from The L Word is super hot though!<3
Kate Moennig <3 Even though she has not come out...we all know she is a Lezzy Leisha Hailey, and Ellen!
Keeping in mind that an icon doesn't necessarily have to be a well known personality ... my icon is my lover. We share a somewhat unique personal history in that we discovered Sapphic happiness together almost by accident ... neither of us having giving lesbianism any previous thought.
^ Cute Mine's gotta be Leisha Hailey I think fictional lesbian icons are just as important in life though - just watched a mini TV series called Tipping The Velvet the other day, it was bloody brilliant The main character Nan is amazing, a definite icon for me
I'm totally with you, Ellen!! And Shane can come by ANY time But I'd have to also add a woman I actually met in person, her name is Lili and she made me see that I'm fine the way I am. Actually, I'm great :2thumbsup:
The book is even better than the show. And yes, Nan is a great icon. I'll go with Ellen over all, though. She has done a lot for making the lesbian community fit better into mainstream.
I ran into Kate Moennig at the dry cleaners one day. She's super nice. She even petted my ex-boss's dog that was with me. Then I was driving back to my ex-bosses house and she just happened to live right down the street. Too bad she didn't invite me back to her house. I would be jumped at that one! Crazy stuff happens in LA. But Icon? I guess an easy one to say would be Ellen. I'll have to think about it more.
Angelina Jolie! I know she's with Brad right now but she was with a woman for a couple years- so in my mind her sexuality remains fluid
