I was lucky enough to have parents tht could afford to take me abroad every year, although I was even luckier that my parents didn't just travel to laze about in a british pub. I've travelled far and wide with my family (south africa, crete, florida, australia, corfu, ireland, spain, turkey, cyprus, france and more!) and so have a love for travelling. I also have a love for spirituality and psychedelic drugs. This brings me to my question. You see TV shows of adventurers going with a camera and living in south american tribal communities for periods of time. I am interested in doing this (when im over 18) and was just wondering, if i wanted to spend time with a genuin, off the grid tribal communite how would i do this? Thanks.
What does ayahausca have to do with that, at all? There are places you might be able to find tribes who are not very racist and don't hate white people because of what's been done to them.... but I doubt it. Mostly you'd just be taking advantage of a lot of poor people who pretend to be your friend, because of money.
Sorry, yeah. My post didn't really say anything about it. What I wanted to do was spend time with a south american tribe, dong ayahausca would be one thing i wuld want to do. Also, i wouldn't be 'taking advantage of poor people' because: 1) I don't think tribal people can really be poor or rich, seeing as tribes mainly revolve around communal style living. 2)conservtion work and charity work.
No, if you go live with people and do charity with the goal of doing drugs, you're taking advantage of them. Yes, they are poor, governments the world over are currently destroying indigenous peoples as fast as they can, and outlawing their cultures, and all that sort of thing. They can absolutely be poor, and they are. You can be a tribe and NOT be poor, but that's not the case, just about...... anywhere.
My goal is not to do drugs. I want to live with a tribal community for some time, but doing ayahuasca would be one of the things I would love to do. And the bit about goverments destoying their culture, thts why I wrote about doing conservation and charity work.
Know how you find these guys? Through a government, who knows they'll see your iPhone and jeans and tylenol and whatever else.... You conserve, so their patch of forest can be clear cut next year after you leave, and they can be pushed into a ghetto. I, personally, however, would love to go to africa, to a place being hit hard by missionaries, and counter-missionary, argue for common sense and against christianity and for people keeping their cultures and religions and social structures and whatever else.
I don't quite get what your pot is about. But definately go to africa. I was in south africa for 2 weeks and it is a beautiful place. People make it out to be a place full of cannibals, criminals and rapists, but in all honesty it is no where as near as bad as the media hypes it to be. The people their are generally lovely people and they are truelly grateful for whatver they have.
Dude, South Africa IS filled with cannabis, criminals and rapists. Living there is a completely different kettle of fish to staying for 2 weeks, a lot of the rapes and murders don't even make a small mention in the paper. It is a fucking awesome country, and I love it to bits and anyone should definitely visit - but don't bullshit yourself about the crime Stay out of obviously likely dodgey places at night, and townships in the day and you'll be fine. Anyway... I heard, and believe, most of the shamans are fake and are just exploiting the tourist market for what the tourists are trying to exploit them for in the first place. It will probably benefit them more than harm though, at this point in time anyway. They're just gonna make what they can of the situation that's already in full swing for them... fuck economy growth. You should watch "Tribe", it's a BBC documentary series where this guy called Bruce Parry goes and spends a few months living with some of the most isolated tribes in the world to see how they live and how their lives are changing because of global expansion. Pretty good series! But yeah, check Chimbre out. It's like a centre set up in the jungle somewhere and they offer ayahuasca treatment. They have some videos up on YT as well. http://chimbre.com/ Sorry for the ramble.. just had a really big spliff:2thumbsup:
I, personally, however, would love to go to africa, to a place being hit hard by missionaries, and counter-missionary, argue for common sense and against christianity and for people keeping their cultures and religions and social structures and whatever else i would love to do this i was kinda brain washed into christianity as a child,so i know how it feels to have it forced on you.also though the christian population isnt declining like tribal communities are.honestly its worth doing just to keep up diversity. random but speaking of africa im very interested in iboga
The biggest criminals and rapists are the military and NGO's. They send gringos to pollute their communities and finally take over their land. That is why many countries are throwing out the NGO's......Do charity in your own countries and leave everyone in peace to live their lives out without mind control and changes.
I don't understand why you would want to take psychedelics with a group of people you don't know the least bit. seems like a recipe for a bad trip. Not to mention the dangers.
trust me. after being in a circle with a "stranger" for a few hours under the effects of ego-shattering hallucinogens you come to an unspoken mutual understanding and aren't really strangers anymore.
