these shows are all over the place ....last night ,flipping around and i see a show called ''1000 pounds of love''...the description was ''morbidly obese couples struggle with their relationships''...i was shocked....what is with people these days that they watch this shit....and thats just one example there is plenty more including''the biggest loser''...and i believe there is a celeb one about losing pounds as well.....

....is this a result of the population getting fat in general?...do you watch these shows?.....do you enjoy them?

I understand what they're trying to do or accomplish, but i dislike the fact that it's a competition. These people feel bad about theirselves enough as it is, but to be kicked off a show because they didn't loose as much weight as the other person, that must really damage their self esteem. When they get off the show they probably gain more weight because of it.
They also don't emphasize the fact that when you lose weight you also gain weight. But instead of saying "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?! You must not be commited, you must be slacking off, because you gained weight!" They should understand that you lose FAT, and gain MUSCLE. Muscle weighs more than fat. So when your doing the weights and aerobics and such, your going to gain muscle in your legs from running and lifting things, but these TV shows don't say anything about that. They make you assume that they were slacking off, and then they get kicked off the show, not knowing that they were doing fine.
There is one show coming out where you just go on there and it's not a competition where people get kicked off but it's just about getting healthy. I kinda want to see more about that show and hope that it's an okay show.

No, I don't watch these types of shows, and I don't understand why anyone else would either.

I don't know if they're a result of the population getting fatter, I think they're the result of television producers running out of ideas for shows. They might also be the result of the knowledge that television networks have, that at least 75% of their viewing audience are brain dead idiots, who will watch whatever crap they put on.

biggest loser: thing i like about these kind of show is they can't do "best of" rehash repeats like they do on survivor every 3 seasons.

I actually like these kinds of shows. I like 'I used to be fat'. It makes me emotional seeing how well they do in losing weight. I think weight loss is something a lot of people struggle with, which is why there are so many shows on this subject. I think it's just to inspire really fat people to do something about it, or even not so fat people who wanna shift a few extra pounds. 'Oh they can do it and they're 20st, so I can too!' they just show you how to live right. Nothing wrong with that.
I don't like the competition shows though like 'The Biggest loser'. Those are shite, and instead of helping the ones who don't lose weight, they kick them off. That's not helping is it?

  11. Never seen any of these shows but what I can't fathom is how people would want to participate. I assume that there is a financial incentive, but who the fuck would want to put themselves through what I can only think of as ritual humilliation in front of an audience of millions!

Anyone who owns a cell phone camera and can lose a gram in six weeks can make their own reality show about it.
