My dentist tried telling me that I grind my teeth at night - said that my teeth showed wear and said that I might need a fucking $300 mouth guard if I don't stop in a year. This is a fucking scam isn't it? I mean, I'm 36 years old - my teeth are bound to show some "wear" right? I honestly don't believe that I'm grinding my teeth, except for when I'm sitting in a dentist chair and some rich fucking yuppie dentist is trying to tell me I'm might need to spend $300 on a mouth piece made from $3 worth of materials after I've just agreed to pay him $3000 for a few fillings, a root canal and crown (that is if he doesn't break my fucking tooth during the root canal. How do these people sleep at night? He knows I don't have any kind of dental insurance and that I'm paying for this shit with my paltry salary. What fucking planet do these fucking people live on? I'd say if your teeth aren't concaved from it, and you aren't having TMJ symptoms, not to bother with it.

Look for a snore guard. Much cheaper.
And grinding teeth can break molars. I've lost three to stress grinding.

you clearly care about your teeth as we all should, i know i grind my teeth when i'm asleep and it has caused damage cracked one or two and loosened fillings, at least he's said that you may need a guard in a year or so and don't need it yet.
gotta say, they sure charge for treatment over there don't they and its getting the same over here.

can i ask whats TMJ don't know those initials aerianne.

    the sports guard sounds useful.

Temporal-mandibular Joint, or the jaw joint. TMJ issues come up as the joint is impinged for whatever reason.
Bodywork can ease it, as can realignment with dental work.
