I love the traditional Maori greeting.

How can you not love that? It's much sweeter than shaking hands!
I'm going to start greeting people like that.
Okay, maybe not everyone... but friends and family, definitely.

It's especially cute because of the sweet innocence of those two. What a great picture. Thanks for sharing

same technique is used up north here to keep lips from freezing together

commonly known locally as an "Eskimo kiss" or the more politically correct "Inuit kiss"

Cute, sure... but I don't particularly want to rub my face on the people I meet.

If everyone in the world was physically attractive, sure.

It's not nice if the person you're greeting is an obese, middle-aged man with a severely runny nose...

Please, please don't start using traditional Maori greetings yourself. It's offensive to Maori.

And you don't 'rub' your nose all over the other persons face. The hongi is a pressing of noses, by which breath is intermingled between two strangers, making them no longer strangers. If someone is a visitor to another land area, by performing the hongi they are welcome to enter.

Just clearing a few things up. :)

people getting offended for no real reason is offensive to me.

Other cultures who know nothing of your culture but "do the greeting because it's cute" is a pretty good reason to be offended to me.

I imagine that the Maori don't find it cute at all, but the act was forced upon them when they were colonized.

I don't think Maori people would be offended to see two non-Moari people touching noses.
