Ok so I'm a white male and I work in a hospital. Now in now way am I racist but I feel like I am due to this paranoid thought I have. So at the hospital I work at there is only like two handfuls of black people who work there. And sometimes I see certain things that kinda open my eyes a bit. There is a certain black lady who does a lot of paper work stuff but also walks around a lot in the hospital. So I see her very often go out of her way to help black patients but never the same for the white ones. There is another one who when walking down the hallway will say hi to every black man or women but not to the whites. But the one thing I think that has made me think is this lady seems to know what room all the black patients are in and goes to all their rooms to tell them she is praying for them. Now it's not like this is super obvious, it has taken me 8 years to see this but now it's really apparent to me. I don't mind so much because I am real good friends with all of them but I just wonder if any of the white patients have noticed and how are they gonna feel if they do? I feel terrible about this thought and I know it sounds bad, I hope nobody is hating on me now. Thank you for reading though and let me know what you think.
I wouldn't make that much of it. It's kind of like if you were a guitarist and felt a special affinity to other guitarists vs everyone else. You might make time speak to or visit other guitarists more than other people. That's the way people are. We like what we know and who we feel comfortable with.
Yeah that's how I've been trying to look at it. I figure I just need to find more work to do so I can stop focusing on dumb stuff.
It's alright for black people to be racist. Just not the other way around. Personally, I could not give a shit less about a person's skin color. Unfortunately, many people do, hence the reason racism -- a moronic and backwards way of thinking -- still exists in ALL races.
There are a lot of west Indians and haitians working in hospitals and they often congregate together because they share a common language (French) and culture; the africans do the same thing and often dis american born blacks. Hotwater
That’s crap and a perfect example is the recent case in florida in which 3 black high school students were filmed punching a white autistic child while yelling racial slurs – now each faces charges for violating his civil rights instead of just being tossed out of school. Hotwater
Natural observations of social interactions of other races isn't racism . And neither is choosing to be with ones own race ,over anothers . Racism is ones belief that his or her race is superior to others .
