Title says it all. My hair line is receding into a pretty wicked windows peak. The problem is the left side is receding farther back then the right side giving me a lopsided looking head in photos. I've pretty much given up on making my hair look sensible. I'm letting it grow out one more time and going to a salon to see if they can do something with it. If that doesn't work out its shaved head+hat for me. I also have a strange shaped skull so the shaved look isn't very becoming of me. Oh well I've always liked wearing hats :) Who knows, maybe in the future they'll be able to transplant my body hair onto my head?

    They say that at age 20, men have a 20% chance of balding, at 30, it's 30%... 80, 80% and at 90, it's 90%.

I dunno, that means 1 out of every 5 guys is balding in his 20's???

Damn I don't like those statistics! Also my family on my mothers side has a history of going gray. All of my aunts and uncles have gray hair :O So I guess I'm doomed either way.

Dont think of it as losing hair, rather think of it of having more face to wash :D,i have had transparent hair on top since is was 21:D

Mannn, do I feel your pain!! My whole dads side of the family is bald, and not receding hair line bald, but larry david style male pattern baldness. My mother's side are also all bald but more towards the forehead receding type. My dad is bald to the likes of george constanza since he was in his 20's so the situation was bad from the get go. I started getting a bald spot in the back/top of my skull when I was 21 to the point where people started to notice it. Damn, Im 23 now and notice it myself everytime I wake up there is some hair on the pillow. IMO if your hair is just receding, that is less bad looks wise.

What I have done is come to terms with it, I pretty much accept Im going bald and I use it as a incentive to live my life to the fullest today. To me it is a reminder that our body is constantly changing and wearing away and that pretty soon we won't have energy, recovery ability, or hair, but we will have other attributes also that we acquired along the way. So the best you can do is make the most out of it now so later you won't look back and say "Wow, I should have hit on more girls" or "I should have done this or that while I had hair, now it's too late." Instead take advantage of it now and later you will come to terms with the fact that looks and everything else that we cling to is transient. I know that that there is already surgical procedures where they even use facial hair to fill in the scalp as opposed to hair on the back of the head as they usually do.

Personally I will go natural as these procedures don't last or just look silly anyway. Like when someone has those ridiculous combovers where one part of the hair is stupid long and barelly covers anything. My dad had hair implants done and his bald dome went from being hairless to bizarre, with like one really long hair follicle every square cm. Once you learn to accept yourself, other will accept you. Even when you find humor in it, other people will be at ease and less inclined to comment, in fact they will like you more because they appreciate your spirit. Going totally shaven can actually make you look better if you are able to pull that look off. It doesnt work on me as I look too much like a cancer patient, so Im still figuring out what to do as far as that goes...

My Mother Had A Very High Forehead, And My Father Was As "Bald As

    A Baby's Bum" At 30.

When I Was A Teenager Friends Said I Would Be Bald Before I Turned 20.

So Fast Foward To Now And Middle Age, My Forehead Line Has Receded About

1 1/2 Inches And I Am Showing Some Skin On The Crown Of My Head.

Started My Natural Dreadlock Journey 2 1/2 Years Ago And Now I Have

    About 65 Happy, Healthy Dreads...:).

I'm As Happy As A Pig In Mud...:2thumbsup:.

    Cheers Glen.

It's nice to know that i'm not alone in this. I'll take your advice FreeExplorer and take advantage of my hair while its there. I think i'll do something crazy with it while I still have enough to play around with. Die it blue and get some sort of freaky style. It's not something I think of to much but it bothers me when I see photos of myself with this wierd looking lopsided head that reminds a little of the dude on the goonies :p

nothing wrong with balding, its a normal thing, as long as you don't try to hide it with a comb over lol.

Shaving helps slow down the balding process, strengthens the hair root, besides, you'd be surprised how many women actually dig bald men, its the higher testosterone that does it and increased sex drive.

I started losing my hair at about age 24 if memory serves me right. I'm now 50 and guess what? I'm still losing it ;)

I know it can happen pretty quickly for others, and no man wants to lose his hair, but when you weigh it all up, this really is a high-class problem.

OP has got the right idea. Keep it as short as you dare. Not only will this feel fresh and take little upkeep with a decent beard trimmer, but it'll let you get on living your life. Some men literally spend decades obsessing about a cure for hair loss.

As my grandmother used to say; 'We die if we worry, and we die if we don't, so why worry?'

Easier said than done, I know, but to put things into perspective, if male pattern baldness is THE BIGGEST problem in your life today, then you're in pretty good shape on the scope of things ;)
