I was trying to listen to their new album, then I listened to Hail to the Thief, and it really struck me that they just aren't that good anymore I'd like to know people's opinion on this, I can understand that they don't want to turn into U2 or someone, but the majority of their new stuff is just boring I also don't like how they made In Rainbows freely available as an experiment but then abandoned this experiment for King of Limbs even though there is plenty of free music that is more original and interesting then their stuff. Everything they do seems like a ripoff to me nowadays and for all their posturing about being some sort of futuristic intellectual band, the only reason that anyone cares about their posturing is because they were an amazing stadium rock band thoughts?
The King of Limbs, their newest album...which they turned also into a remix album (ugh) really is horrible in my opinion. I thought Hail to the thief was all not their best, but this is just awful...The worst part is, is that they think it's one of their best.
I disagree that everything they do is a ripoff....not sure what you mean by that anyway... I agree that the newest album is different from their older stuff. But one reason I like them so much is the fact that every new album is completely different than the last...I love that they are that diverse. I have complete respect for Radiohead as a whole. They are extremely musically talented and the talent in my opinion has developed into something I enjoy listening to. Who knows you might end up liking the next one that comes out. Look, Radiohead isnt for everyone. period.
Hail to Thief is hit and miss but solid for the most part, what I've heard from In Rainbows is pretty solid and they even released a live from the basement performance after which is really excellent and completely squashes your assumption they are a 'stadium rock act.' I haven't heard much of King of Limbs but Radiohead defined a whole generation and changed the musical landscape forever with The Bends, Ok Computer and Kid A. It's asking alot for a group to excel beyond or even maintain the creative artistic output of those albums. But to their credit they have remained relevant as well and it seems with In Rainbows and the little i've heard of the newest album they accept their current place in their career humbly.
They are definitely talented. I think I'm a fan of their hard, gritty sound that they made their own on the Bends and OK Computer. I dig their guitar riffs, and I'm a guitar fan. I think that's why TKOL doesn't appeal to me as much...they added an electronic flavor. You guys are right. Not all their albums can be the same, then they'd just get grouped into that category of bands that don't evolve or change their style at all. I respect them for that...Their latest works just aren't my personal faves...I look forward to see where they go next.
Haters can hate and although I can see what you are getting at I thoroughly enjoy Radiohead's entire catalog. Although I have never been very partial to 'Pablo Honey'. My favorite by far is 'Kid A'. I really hope to see them live sometime in 2012, personal goal.
There are few bands outside of a few really obscure ones that I haven't at least heard of. I would say my palate is quite diverse. That said, other than for albums like The Bends and OK Computer, I fail to see this band's greatness and say much if it is in fact hype.
Radiohead is amazing there music just takes me away to a better place, and sure King of Limbs isn't In Rainbows, or Hail to the Thief, but Thom Yorke ("their singer" haha) is am amazing artist that creates and insane universe of music for his band members to fall into every time he gets on the mic, or picks up a guitar, or play that piano. They don't give a damn what any one thinks of their music, its their art, its for them, and sure its out there and you're allowed to critique, but their art is their art its not mad to please some fans.
There is NO art whatsoever in bands like RH and PT.....they totally destroy the true art of music that has always been alive since the 50s!!!!
remember this is only your opinion my friend. I'm sure their is some band that you like that I think is complete garbage.
destroy the true art of music? I respect your opinion, but i hope you know that's incredibly close-minded. Don't know about PT but radiohead does nothing but progress with their music. At least with King of Limbs they made an attempt to further their musicianship and explore different ideas. Though some may not like it, you still have to appreciate what they are doing. To say there is no art in Radiohead is absolutely baffling. It's also worth mentioning that the amount of exclamation points and smiley faces at the end of your post doesn't make your opinion any less foolish-sounding.
The only garbage and high overrating I see and hear in this period comes from Radiohead and Porcupine Tree....there are 1000s of emerging bands and emerged bands that can PISS ON RH's HEAD any day.....MATE!!!:mickey::devil:.....and who the hell cares what YOU think of my fave / not fave bands....don't give a high damn at all.....MATE
....and by the way, opinions are opinions and facts are facts....there's no messin' around lightly with TRUE ART!
