It seems like it to me, I have been forever, most of the women in my family are, most my friends are.... its hard to be with so many people like this
Surround yourself with happier people. Depression breeds depression and over time you all feed off each others negativity and it is a endless spiral downwards. Don't let them take you down with them.
Sometimes it is not possible for one to surround them self with happier people, but it certainly helps.
its because we grew up thinking the prince was going to come sweep us off our feet, ride away into the sunset, and live happily ever after.
Those movies all end the exact same way...crap happens, everything gets resolved and it's all rainbows and cup cakes for the rest of eternity.
Victims of social engineering males into stupid fighting machines by brainwashing in films and games.
I know more men who are depressed than women, so I guess I have a different experience. I watched tons of Disney growing up and I watch tons now and it has not made me depressed or given me any issues.
Can we blame movies and disney tho? Is that the reason so many are depressed? I think we've done it to ourselves. We have high expectations of ourselves today. We want to work and have a good education, we want to love and be the best wife/partner we can plus if you add kids in the mix the pressure to be a good mum and do the right thing all the time. Then when we don't think we are doing the best and then it starts.
It's not just women, A LOT of people are depressed! It's really sad I think it has a lot to do with our society and habits. Nutrient deficiencies can cause depression, and not getting enough sunlight. We're exposed to so many chemicals daily, and that doesn't help. And society is a brainwashing, money-hungry cycle that runs on destroying us People...
There is this club of sorts at my school that has a 'Disney is evil and is responsible for all atrocities towards women' event every semester. It's not really called that, but that seems to be the gist of the program.
There are reasons for every depressed individual, but I can imagine the media has played an important role for female depression... especially in the younger girls. They're pressured to be thin and pretty... and it really messes with one's head. They just can't be happy with themselves so they find it pointless to be happy with/for others. Another reason I could imagine is because the economy is crumbling, women seem more out there in expressing how shitty everything is. Everyone is sad nowadays, women just feel the need to scream it. That, or theres somethin in the water thats makin our hormones outta wack so our PMS puts us on the verge of suicide.
It is a messed up thing, because media tells girls to be really thin.... but if a girl is actually thin then everyone in society condemns her for being 'anorexic' and assumes that she must be starving herself to look that way. So basically you are are judged harshly whether you are large or thin. Basically we just can't win no matter what. It sucks that we all get judged so much on our appearance. I only bring this up because I am naturally really skinny and I have a small chest and all of that and I have had to listen to people telling me that I must be anorexic for years and it caused me a lot of pain when I was younger. Now I don't care as much, but it was really hurtful when I was a teenager.
