yeah, I think that it's an evolved version of Joy Division. Not 100% sure on that though, somebody back me up here...

there was also another band called new order with i think ron ashton in it... but yeah i think the new order you are refering to is the synth pop band joy division turned into. they did that song "e for england". and "blue monday" was one of the biggest dance singles ever.
from what i recall new order came into being when Ian Curtis the vocalist from joy division hung himself. thay carried on as new order with one of the guitarist's i think doing vocals
