The final parking and main trail set up for the 2012 Ocala Rainbow Gathering is as follows: The first trailhead at the western end of the Horseshoe Trail (nearest to 445A), will be the Main Gate. Linear Parking begins east of that trailhead along FR 18 and continues east, past the intersection with FR 73. Buses, RV's campers, occupied cars, vans and trucks and car camping will take place along FR 18 on the south side facing east. Car, supply truck & bus parking will be along the east side of FR 73 facing north, liveaboards, RVs, occupied buses or sleeping in cars NOT allowed. Welcome home will be at the main gate. Back gate, at the eastern trailhead of the horseshoe trail will be hosted by RHT and have parking for handicapped and for the Occupy family, many of who will be at their first gathering. The trail and location of the Occupy Camp will be well marked. I will post the Operating Plan within a couple of days, but it remains virtually unchanged from last year. Key points include the swimming hole at Freak Creek is day use only, no camping or overnight parking, Bear resistant containers or live sentinels for all food storage, as was last year, daily trash pick-up and no trash or food allow to accumulate that could attract animals, as well as the usual requirement, legal vehicle, etc. LEO presence is expected to be light but visible with occasional BS from the usual subjects. Ignore all rumors of cancellation, don't consent to searches, you know the drill... Seed Camp begins Monday 1/30 Lovin' You family, welcome home!!!!!!
Could anyone plz while ur down there, while touring the area. Visit the grand lady riverboat? There is a group tryin 2 preserve her as a. Natl historic landmark. I think the wesbite's called friends of grand lady. I just foundout abt her dec 14th.
Can't find it more info or a link might help. There is a boat ramp just outside the gathering site but I don't think the Alexander Springs run connects with anything. I'm interested if there is better information. Will you be joining us this year?
So if I'm cruising east on 40 from ocala where do I hang a right? How do I get to the site from 40? I saw on the plan we are allowed to get water from farles prairie. Does that mean there is no on-site water source?
Astor landing camp campground & marina connects with satsuma fla by water. This is the closest yuppie deepwater I can see 2 alexander springs. If anyone knows something closer lemme know. I say this becuz it would seem safer 2 leave boats @ yuppie boatslips.
Merlin, The directions are 40 to 19 South to 445A toward Alexander Springs to FR 18, 1/4 mile to Welcome Home. The Alexander Springs run is the southern border of the gathering site. The water being referred to is tested, safe drinking water.
Just spoke to Captain Moss from the Lake County Sheriffs Office (LCSO) who assured me our relations, from this point forward is and will be cordial, no roadblocks, no targeted enforcement and no pre-planned BS. Should that not be the case, please document and forward to me with events (what happened), allegations (why they say it happened), time, date, location and parties involved. Please expect and welcome them when they stop by, probably Thursday, 2/9. We thank the LCSO and the FS (who are making the same claim) and appreciate their support. That is not to say anyone, us or them, will allow a free for all or violence in our church, even when people act stupidly along the road. Protection and restraint for personal or family safety is one thing, violence is another and will not be tolerated!!!! Remember we are all Shanta Sena!!!! Much love family and welcome home!!!
