Pet Sematary was one of the scariest books I've ever read, and it has the
added attraction of having local interest [IMG]

im about half way through the dark tower series, iv read almost every other stephen king book, partly in preparation for this, its fantastic but you need to have read most of his other books to make all the self references and connections.

my fav SK book has been the stand though. its perfect.

I agree the stand is fantastic but the original version, not the extended edition [IMG]

I'm not really a huge Stephen King fan. I'm mainly a fan of The Shining, both the novel and the movie, but particularly the novel. :)

I really like Stephen King. I recently finished a book by him called Misery. You should read that...it's really good. It's about an author who gets into an accident and wakes up addicted to pain medication that's being given to him by his "biggest fan." She's basically crazy and holds him captive. Great story.

I loved the Dark Tower series, I read the whole thing. Yes, the story does change from about book 4 onwards, but I liked it. I love his treatment of "alternate universes"... I thought the deadly Harry Potter reference was hilarious.

I've read all of his books. My favorite has to be "The Dark Tower" and the rest of the "series".

I've read a LOT of his books, and personally he's one of my favorite authors. What I like about his books is the fact that he uses authors as main characters, which is something I can associate with.

A lot of his books I read whenever I get stuck with writing my own.

My favorites would be these (in no particular order :p )

    (1) The Shining
    (2) Misery
    (3) Secret Window Secret Garden (novella in Four Past Midnight)
    (4) IT
    (5) On Writing

IT was one of the longest books I've read so far, but it was worth it!

A lot of the books deal with someone slipping slowly into insanity (or being completely insane from the start and just getting progressively worse), which makes his stories thrilling.

IT gave me nightmares for weeks (not because of the clown but because of the line "I worry about you Bevvy, I worry a lot." People who read the book will know what I mean!
