Hmmm... I don't get cramps (I'm lucky, I know) so I don't do the heating pad or meds thing.. but I do tend to eat a lot of sweets and drink tons of milk. My husband can always tell cause we go through about 3 gallons of milk in a week. I can also say that I do ge very, very, horny.
My rituals: Take an aleve and a lortab, eat a steak. LOL. I don't really even like meat that much, but something about the 3 or 4th day of my period, I get to really craving one and it won't go away until I eat it. I too get very horny while I'm on my period. Unfortunately my hubby has menstrualbloodphobia so I'm out out luck.
My husband is the same way, but that doesn't mean I can't please myself I'm always really tired around my period, so I wonder if I am not eating enough protein. I always thought it would make my periods heavier, but I would put up with that rather than being exhausted a week straight.
Heating pad, vicodin, ibuprofen, and just try to make myself comfy for a few days... I'm lucky my wonderful bf is so horrified by what i'm going through because he'll go insanely out of his way to try and make me happy. (i'm talkin' cook, clean, massage, store runs and even keeping a good supply of smoke at my side) i don't eat meat so the steak is right out for me. protein is usually amply provided by a normal diet anyway. perhaps when you're craving steak it's actually the iron you're deficient in? I have a :that time of the month" but it's not a period cause I have a penis, but I get mad for no reason and try to kill myself and others too, but I've found that sleeping pills help
4 advil every 8 hours, chocolate ice cream (for some reason, anything but will not do it) salty anything, especially potato chips, greek olives and popcorn, and lots of kleenex, cause I will cry at ANYTHING, I'm talking kodak comercials, and I get really bitchy, so I tend to go into seclusion. I also get really really horny, like 2 or 3 days before, glad to hear I'm not the only one, lol
Thats funny! hThis morning I was pleasantly surprised with a wonderful Christmas present- blood and cramps. lol But for some reason, this time the cramps are just uncomfortable but not painful, and I just felt so much more in tune with my body (for the first time since first getting my period). My pj pants, of course, had some blood on them, and I hand-washed it in the sink. It made me feel a lot better, when I have blood on my undies orpj pants, I tend to like handwashing them simply because it does make me feel more connected to myselfIts nice to see i'm not the only one!
I also try to do some mild yoga, dance in my room a bit, and eat more fruit. Starting last month, I've also started researching the connection between spirituality and menstruation.
Usually in the week before it, I get stressed and cry at everything (maybe not Kodak commercials, but when I'm talking to my gf or think about Africa or see one of those sad ads on tv or anything like that I tend to cry for a bit!). It makes me frustrated because all 4 times I tried to break up with my gf, it was over somethign stupid and I was about to start. I need to warn people about it
lol, warnings are a good thing, my family is used to it, but friends must be warned. it's funny though, whenever I'm out in the woods camping and stuff, my periods aren't painful at all. I haven't got a clue why, but atleast like 3 times this has happened. As if you need more a reason to move to the woods, this is a great one
I get really bad cramps but only on the first day. I take a bath read a book and go to sleep. I get my boyfriend to rub my belly and bring me a hot water bottle. I drink rasberry leaf tea. Careful with chocolate girls, caffeine makes cramps worse. Salt will also make you retain even more water. Women used to cycle with the moon, ovulating while it is full (think big egg) and menstruating when theres no moon. That happens for me and the other treeplanter girls after sleeping in tents for extended periods of time.
crystal, I used to be on that cycle, but for some reason I'm now switching to menstrating on the full moon. I wish I knew why, I was so happy to be on the moon cycle...
paix, me too! i think for me it has to do with stress. my rituals include bong rips, chocolate(real chocolate though, im a chocosnob) hot tea, long baths, and crying with my sister. i sort of wish people still did the red tent thing.
cramps are NOTHING compared to labor. and yes, the blood does help yer plants.Lots of iron. the water you wash cloth pads in willl work, too.
I get really horny 2 or 3 days before, and i usually eat alot more. During, i get cramps on the first day and then thats about all i can remember. LOL, but i go for 7 days which is a bitch!
