Hi, I recently got put on cymbalta for depression. Now, even though I have depression I can and have handled bad trips and benefited from them, so no replies warning about tripping with depression, please. So, I've only been on cymbalta for over a week and I'm expecting to get some shrooms in a few days. How long should I break from my meds to trip? I've heard anywhere from 3 days to a week or two. Anyone have any experience or input with ssri's and shrooms?

Yeah I was on medication when I did a very large amount of shrooms. About a bag and a half to myself. Nothing was really different. Some insane but fun visuals, nothing really psychological I felt pretty straightforward. But if something is bugging you that is a big deal dont go into the trip without resolving it first.

    :D Happy tripping.

Watch out taking a break from Cymbalta, for a lot of people it's one of the nastiest antidepressant withdrawals they've ever had to deal with, even having taken it short term. (Yes, even for taking it a little over a week)

Also it's an SNRI not an SSRI.... that makes a difference. Cymbalta is one of the worst, if not the worst drugs out there.... I don't mean to scare you, but don't fuck around with it or it will bite you back. By the way, nothing personal, but how old are you, approximately?

It's an ssnri, dealing with both norepinephrine and serotonin, so it might and probably will still have an effect on the trip. But what aesthetic said makes it seem that it may not have all too much of an effect on the trip.
That's true, they build up in the system. So perhaps the amount of the drug in my system may not have as much of an impact, but I was thinking it might have some.
In a few hours, for me at least, I'll be 16. Why?

Why? This proves your doctor didn't read the dosing guide, as is typical. Cymbalta is not supposed to be prescribed to children, teens and young adults, there's to high a suicide risk. There's a "Black Box Warning" stating this if the doc had happened to look.... Obviously he/she didn't.

All I will say is be damn careful with Cymbalta, this drug almost killed me and it turned a minor disability into a major disability. I only took it for 30 days..... 'Nuf said!

I took Effexor for one day..... I thought my heart was going to explode I was so anxious and paranoid on that poison.

Because SNRIs inhibit serotonin uptake they will screw with your bodies ability to uptake psilosin.... so you may just be wasting your money.

I would get off that crap asap and just try to be less of an emo wussy.

Well, we don't need to be name calling, it rarely helps. But the fact is while a few cases of depression may be chemical problems, most are not and treating all cases of depression as if they are "chemical imbalances" is going to screw a lot of people up. Depression is usually situation, not chemical in nature.

@ the OP .... I know you are 16 and your parents make these choices (or at least I would imagine they do make these choices) you would probably do better fixing the problem than masking it and making things worse for yourself in the future.

Heyhey,Im an addictions counselor and a nurse.I would try and stay off about a week..UNLESS you've been on them awhile.DO NOT just stop if you've been on more than a month.'They're' not calling it withdrawl,'they're'callin it 'SSRI'syndrome. Its still withdrawl to me,and its nasty. You'll probably not get off on the mushrooms if your on the Cymbalta when taking the 'shrooms..Your pupils will get big,you might feel a little body buzz..Try and ween yourself off the antidepressants..It is a nasty drug to come off of.NOT THE WORST..Do your research, and take it slow, then enjoy your mushrooms.Everyones abit different when it comes to that class of prescription drugs..PEACE

Theres a black box warning on alot of drugs..Zoloft,Prozac are far worse..If youve been on it longer than a month it should take almost a month to be weened off..DONT JUST STOP.DO your research, talk to your Doc,or find a different Doc who is willing to listen and work with you..Clinical depression IS USUALLY chemistry, and most time genetic..Sometime diet, believe or not..Do YOUR research, and DO whats best for you.
    PEACE
