Started listening to them not that long ago. I like it, but it's not my "go-to" music.

Out of everything I've heard, I have to say Phone Went West is my favorite. It's simplicity is pure bliss and the lyrics are wonderful. If you like Librarian, I'd suggest checking out Phone Went West. Out of all their albums though, I think Evil Urges is a good one to start off with.

YES! They are up there in my top 3 bands. I haven't really taken the time to listen to the first 2 albums, though. I've actually seen them twice, hoping for a 3rd time this year.

The first time was at a beach festival ( with other acts like Paul Simon, Flaming Lips, Primus, Ween and a ton others) and the most recent was 3 months ago with a singer songwriter named Neko Case.

They are pretty legit. I like how their sound trascends different genres ( something I notice that most fans don't like, oddly enough) I love how they can have a country twang, then jam-band feel, then indie and then bluesy.

MMJ is awesome. Evil Urges is my favorite...start to finish. Circuital is good but for some reason it typically takes like a year for me to fully appreciate new music.

Monsters of Folk is still the best thing Jim James has ever been a part of. I saw them at Austin City Limits in 2010 and it was quite possibly the best show I have ever seen. They nog only played MOF stuff, but played their respective bands' stuff as well. Just talking about it makes me happy.

that time i sent you a link?

im loving "it still moves" right now. dancefloors, mahgeetah, golden, easy morning rebel, run thru... i think Z, evil urges, and it still moves are solid the whole way through, although i think Z and it still moves are a little deeper. All GREAT studio albums though. Z reminds me of Dark Side of the Moon, and It Still Moves is the only genuinely country album i like. MMJ rocks
Some other notable songs; aluminum park, dondante, lay low, off the record, touch me im going to scream (1+2).. i really love all three of those albums front to back, ive listened a ton.

It Still Moves and the live album/DVD Okonos are great.

also like most of Z and At Dawn but was disappointed with too many songs on Evil Urges. only heard Circuital once and didn“t even bother to buy it.

"Z" is good as is "It Still Moves", Jim James is a talented musician. For shizzle though, I'm in love with Victory Dance off Circuital. Makes me wanna shake my dick at people.

I haven't really listened to much of them, but they have my respect. Theyre from my town, and when they heard a local record store was in financial trouble MMJ came in and started having mini concerts right in the store to attract customers. They do a lot for this town. I should listen to more of their stuff.

that's pretty cool to save the record store like that

a member on here, guerillabedlam, thought a song i posted by Band of Horses sounded like MMJ. that was the first thing i heard about the band that made me actually go listen to them.

you ever listen to or at least hear of Band of Horses, ganja?

i like the song Our Swords

I like It Still Moves and Evil Urges the best.

I like band of horses as well, porkie. I'm not a fan of their newest album but their first two albums just get to me.

i just listened to Our Swords, so limited frame of reference.. but they don't do calm the shakes like MMJ does ;) MMJ is just so confident and doin' their own thing.. so genuine and relaxing
