My friend and I are planning a trip in the next couple days, problem is that the setting contains a cat and my friend has a mild-moderate allergy to felines. He apparently gets a significant increase in mucous production and has slight troubles breathing when in close quarters or especially when in contact with cats. I automatically connected allergy to Benadryl or Aleave or something, or simply Advil for mucous, but I was wondering if any of you had experience with allergies and tripping and what your advice would be? Please, if you know something, reply quickly so we can pick up any remedies tomorrow. Thanks! :2thumbsup:
Difficult to control allergies within a day. Zyrtec and Claritin help a lot, if not cure the problem. But it can take a week for it to build up and calm the membranes. The setting may be quite problematic. You'll need to really clean the trip room, wash all cloth, etc and keep cats away. If you have a HEPA filter, all the better.
Obviously the best scenario is try and find another comfortable setting to trip but if that's not possible, do what krozar said.
I talked to my friend today, and I guess he was a bit dramatic in describing his allergies. I guess all that happens is he gets itchy when actually petting a cat, and he has increased mucous production when the cat is in the same room. I assume it will be fine in this setting, we will also be spending a large chunk of it hopefully outside.
That actually made me cry a little, I lost my dog Bowser of 12 years about a week ago. Also, I have had my cat for about 13 years and she is one of my favorite things in this world at this point. I'm not angry or anything, no way you could have known.
Losing my dog was the most difficult thing I went through. Keep your chin up man, he will always be with you in some way.
Thanks man, that is part of why this trip should be very dramatic. My friends were very close to my dog as well, as they are very close to me, to the point that they cried at his passing. I am going into this experience either tonight or early tomorrow morning not afraid to cry about things and face things.
i'd say go for it, especially if the allergies are only mild-moderate. i don't have any first hand experience with allergies, but if it's something you're used to, it can't be THAT bad while tripping. i took my (probably) largest dose of LSD ever when i had a broken hand in a cast - camping for two days in the deep woods
