Ambien... A psychedelic goldmine? Or sleep aid?

It feels fantastic (much like a benzo high) and triggers hallucinations at as little as 1-4 pills(10-40mg)! Not to mention it is easy as fuck to get a script for... Just out of curiosity why aren't there more trip reports and more info on the psychoactive affects? I have had more wild hallucinations on ambien than on LSD for gods sake! Am I just part of a minority and it doesn't affect most people this way, or is it just not a trendy enough topic yet or is there some other obscure reason? I would like to hear all of your opinions/facts on the topic. And just for the hell of it, share with me some trip reports you may have had on this bizarre pharmaceutical.

 

It is worth noting that the hallucinogenic properties of the so-called "non-benzodiazepine" sleep aids are pharmacologically very similar to the Fly Agraric Mushroom's effects. You know- the one with the red tops with white spots. The Aminita Muscarina (sp?) mushroom produces such visions through GABA-A receptor agonism at the same site as the sleep drugs. It is very interesting IMO.

 

I agree 100%. It is just so confusing how this drug isn't the big topic right now.. it is my favorite recreational drug and believe me I have tried a great number of psychedelics, including the Aminita Muscarina mushroom and none have taken me to mario land as a ninja (40 mg. insufflation)

 

You obviously have not had good LSD

 

I remember getting my script of 60 20mg rids when my girl got 90 .5 xanex and 60 ambien....we used to stay up until all scripts were gone...kinda sad lookin back on it but oh well....Ambien never seemed to put me to sleep(considering we were blowing back way to many) but it did seem to produce one hell of a buzz...

 

Does it pretty much solely cause hallucinations or is there any sort of mind expanding properties to it, like analytic thinking, music enhancement, etc?

 

Great question! From my personal experience it has far more than just hallucinations. It diminishes any anxiety you may have because it attaches to the GABA-B receptor, which breaks down the walls to often anxiety provoking thoughts and feelings. I have also had out of body experiences while meditating on a 20mg. dose of ambien, and felt very clear headed and almost stress free for almost a week afterward. Ambien produces the most tranquil feeling I have ever had in my life. And as far as the music, I feel a bit too spaced out to even pay attention to it, (keep in mind it is a strong sleeping inducer) so a negatory on that. But well worth a try, I would go with 20 mg. your first time on account that 10 mg. typically only produces a strong "buzzed" feeling and very mild hallucinations if any. And obviously insufflated is the way to go if you want to trip hard, but taking the pills works just fine too, it's almost as effective.

 

Not psychedelic in the least. I have taken ambien before, gets you wacked like all other benzos, and some visuals. Def not psychedelic

 

Would you say to readers of this post that it's worth a try?

 

I use to do ambian all the time as well and yes it is a rather good psychedelic. I however, think that it does not give you the same profound experiences as other psychedelics. truth be told the strongest non-normal psychedelic i have ever done was benedryl i took like 1100 mgs. and it was nothing but OBE every five mins

 

ya its a good recreational pharm but it is not psychedelic. Benadryl is NOT a psychedelic either, you need to get your terminology straight.

 

Lets call them "Dangerous" I believe that puts everything that was talked about into the right category. Sure its fun, but you cant overdose on Mushrooms( unless its the Fly Agaric of course.) or weed.

 

Normally I would agree. But because of their current scarcity, I am just making do with something I already have, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. In addition, no dangerous side effects unless you are an idiot and take like 10-15 pills. Which might I add readers that it does NOT make the high better to take mega doses.. You will get the same effect, (if not better) from taking the small dose I recommended in my original post. 10-40 mg.

I have taken both ambien and benadryl in higher doses then recomended and have profound experiences with it some better then others but it is a psychedelic just compleatly diferent efects than lsd and anyother drug.

Personaly my favorite psychedlic drug is shrooms I find taking an eighth of mushies with an extra gram or 3 for them nights your felling a little brave.
My favorite thing to do on shrooms is just go outside bring a beach chair that reclines all the way back, go to the golf course near my house and lay back and look at the stars and the moon.

zolpidem (ambien) is very interesting. it has mostly a benzo feel with a tinge of psychedelia. i cannot do it however, because in the past i've had months worth of it gone in a week.

for me, my tolerance to it grew rapidly to where i was snorting ~ 50mg a day to get any feeling from it. the withdrawal sucks also, a lot of body chills and insomnia. gabapentin helps a lot for the withdrawal from it. prevents possible seizures from zolpidem withdrawal.

take care while using zolpidem. if you're like me, you'll turn into a straight ambien fiend.

 

SNorting it, mixed with a strong energy drink, ritalin, adderal, cocaine or meth can give you some crazy ass trips, I am on 200mg seroquil and that is pretty close to my ambien trip, crazy but really not worth it for me. Just get some cacti, opium and or salvia (legal for now) and you'll get some decent results, all depends on personal experience.
