Hey Just wondering does anyone know of any good hippy friendly camping sites in wales? It really doesn't have to be wales. Just somewhere nice to meet up with hip minded people with a good friendly vibe. Have camp fires/play music/and get high.Hoping to go mid/late spring time.
Theres a couple festivals coming up in may, one called 'Spring Wiggle Forest Folk Moot' and another the SAME weekend called Snowdonia Magikana. Links below. I'll be attending Spring Wiggle, look at Youtube channel 'FreakyHz' for footage of their previous event, looks like a lovely intimate setting. Send me a message if you go we can have a boogie! Wherever you set up camp, I would advise plenty of insect repellent around the tent and a couple of guard dogs. The Welsh are well known for their hearty appetites, and they wont discriminate - even a hippy could be a target.
Wales is like Scotland only the people are generally even more leary of strangers. I mean in the out of the way villages. I once walked into a pub in Mid Wales and asked for four glasses of coke, you know that scene in films where the entire bar just goes still, it was like a Slaughtered Lamb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07FdVcspOfQ"]Slaughtered Lamb version of that. Queen Elizabeth Country park isn't bad, just don't make your fire too obvious and the Rangers wont bother you. It's about 40 miles East of The New Forest nr Butser Hill. There are parking sites and barbeque pits provided so you don't really need to set fires as such.
I've had no problems in Wales camping near the beaches in my van i.e. surfers car parks and coastal lay-bys. I met quite a few friendly 'hippie' types and shared a few evenings around a fire/BBQ. I suppose you just have to blend in a little Madesh
I found this fanyasyic resevouir can't remember what it's called but it's out of Denbigh about 10 miles. I stayed there in my camper a few weeks ago it was absolutely fantatstic. If anyone fancies a mid week camp next week let me know and I'll sort out the name and best place to park. I have a camper and had no problems but I'm fairly sure yents are ok too so long as they don't make too much mess
Actually I'm staying on the front at colwyn bay tomorrow so if anyone else with a van fancies a bit of sun and sand and hopefully fish just look for the white renault camper prob parked near one of the tolilets! lol
