someone please explain

    How is it that Gingrich had an AGI of $3.1 mill and paid 32% tax of $960k.
    W/ those #s it looks like he had no deductions at all.

    I'm no accountant but I'm quite certain that AGI us total income and from that deductions are removed to determine taxable income.

    Not all income is taxable, not sure if that applies in his case, but that's how most millionaires get away with tax rates that they normally have. I don't know what Newt is doing...... Most of these guys have double books anyways so what's reported isn't necessarily what's really going on.
