Complaining is the least you should do!
Voting isn't going to solve the problem, the dice are loaded. Everybody knows it.

Yes, first of all it does not seem it really matters who gets voted into office, same shit different president. So what exactly is the point of voting when the government has proven they really does not give a damn what the citizens might need or want.

Do you have the same system there as the UK
Here there is a bar code (scannable) which marries you up to your number, so they even know what you voted.
No one even objects to that in principle even when it's pointed out. (who shall guard our guardians and such!) Most dear children beleive that their guardians are good eggs and there's no need to worry.

The levels of crookedness make a mountainous relief map.
The big lie indeed works better than the small one.

But hey, smile, it's all nonsense anyway. :sunny:

I do not vote, therefore I have the right to complain.

The people who are in office are not there because of me so I can complain about that.
If I would have voted I would have agreed with the outcome and therefore I would not have any right to complain.

No, the US system is quite different. You have to register to vote and they check your name against a list when you go to vote, but there's no link between the actual vote and your identity. Also, we vote for individuals rather than parties, though there are a lot of silly rules that limit exactly who can be listed on a ballot here.

On the question of this topic, of course people who don't vote have a right to complain. Every citizen does. It's called free speech. In a democratic system, the power is held by all people of that nation. The actual act of voting or not doesn't change that.

The right to vote still matters a lot unless you think the system is actually rigged at the voting booth. I don't think that happens enough to usually matter (though the 2000 US Pres. election....). If enough people got together, they can still get anyone they want elected. The problem is with the people who are easily manipulated by propaganda rather than the government itself.

In the end though, if your options are what we typically see between two sides of the same corrupt, corporately owned coin. Voting for one side or the other doesn't matter much.

I understand there are those who can not vote and aside from habitual violent offenders i dont see how in the US you can take someones right to vote away. BUT, unfortunatly they can...... BUT!
I also know there are a large amount of people who dont because they feel it does no good, to those people grow a back bone for yourself, your children and your people! You shouldn't quit without trying, you "can" loose if you dont get in this race! Our system is biult to dicourage the weak, the poor, and the minorities you know this. Stop letting them win if speaking up was pointless none of us would be here.... You can't have a opinion of something you know nothing about. Even our poor, weak and our minorities are spioled to the point we just give up and give in.. For Shame!

This is the same point everyone tries to make.

Unfortunately, voting is not akin to having a backbone. The only reason people vote is to SEEM like a participant without having to actually DO anything. Then, when things don't go their way, they have something they can point to and say ''I did all I can do''.

So grow an actual backbone, and stop taking the bullshit, facade-driven course of pseudo-action.

You are right in some sort but, My opinion according to what i have investigated is it seems that the few people who do vote use it as a sort of martyrdom because they are so few and go figure they also have all the money. Its kind of like small towns, they are not very big but everyone knows everyone and everyone helps in some way to keep things running the way they are use to things going. Ok.. If some city slicker or reversed some unknow outsider goes and messes with the Mobb ( sorry for how ever that sounds.lol) and tries to make waves or change what they are comfortable with they will bend the rules, pay off, and rid themselves of that person. The best way to start that proscess is to point out they're weaknesses and make them feel as though they are helpless and the situation is hopeless.
If that outsider has intrests in something there then it is best for them to know what they are up against and possibly make alies and at the veery least know what boundaries to cross and what to aviod...
Maybe i was a little harsh in my words but to me voting is a way to know what i'm really up agianst. When you read my comment about needing a back bone it seems you assume i'm saying it is our fault because we have no courage. That is not what was ment by that and saying have a back bone is a figure of speach another way of saying even though it may seem hopeless we must still participate for our benifit even if its just information.
If we go to a concert and everyone else is standing do we sit because its so full of standing we won't be able to see the band good or be seen by the band?
By not voting we are not just saying my vote doesn't count we are also saying since my vote does not count i dont need to know what and/ or who we are voting for. This puts us at a disadvantage because now we not only don't count we dont even know what new rules and new personalities governing those rules we are dealing with.

If elections could ONLY be won by receiving votes of more than 50% of the registered voters, then maybe the emphasis would be on providing desirable candidates who could attract voters to go and vote FOR someone. Government has come to be run BY and FOR the political parties, Democrat or Republican, and NOT the people. And our problems have only increased due to the fact that most people are led to select a candidate based ONLY on how and where they will spend the ever increasing taxes and borrowed money demanded by government, totally ignoring the debt we are accumulating.

It's not too surprising to me.. a little ironic that some concepts of free speech would hold that freedom to be conditional on participating in a charade whose primary purpose is to create the illusion that we have a choice in political matters.

Well in a culture so predominated by whatever the TV tells us, Ad's EVERYWHERE, in every nook and cranny telling us how supposedly important it is "we all get out and rock the vote" for the past 30 years or so it get's pretty easy to understand why there are so many fucking Dupes running around this country who think that putting a little hash mark next to the name of some two faced piece of shit liar who is better at conning the individual fool more than the other two faced piece of shit liar is somehow validates their role as an american,,, Thomas Jefferson would probably spit in their eye to say the least...

Thats a tough one. I know everyone says if you dont vote dont complain but some people have become so disenfranchised with the political system here in the United States that they dont feel the desire to vote but still care about the country.
But then again to those who do still decide to actively participate in the electorial process may find it annoying to listen to someone that hasnt bothered to atleast try and make a difference by voting.
So I can see both sides of the story and each have a strong arguement. Now which is right? Lets take a vote and see.
