    Hi!
My name is stephanie, im a 17 year old girl and i live in a VERY small and closed minded town. Over the last few years i have sat back and watched my community and my country go down the drain. during those few years, i also worked on me. Changing myself from the inside, trying to see things from a lighter point of veiw. Now, i feel that i am ready to make a difference. Its time for a second coming. its time for a change. im ready to help be the change that this country needs; not only for my generation, but for the generations after me.
So, i need any information or ideas on how to go about doing this. also, i need to know if anyones been to a "love-in" and what theyre like and how to have one. thank you.
    peace, love, &freedom.
    Stephanie.

Re-post from wikipedia: A love-in is a peaceful public gathering focused on meditation, love, music, and/or use of psychedelic drugs. The term was coined by Los Angeles radio comedian Peter Bergman, who also hosted the first one in March or April 1967 (sources disagree) in Elysian Park. It has been interpreted in different ways by different organizations, but is often connected to protesting local, social or environmental issues. Such protests were held in opposition to the Vietnam War.

You could study the first human be-in, monterey pop, death of 'hip', and Woodstock. Join movements, Occupy, PeTA, Anti-war movementt, etc. If you aren't moving from your small community maybe start an organic garden and sell your fruits, vegetables and flowers and home baking in the summer, like at a farmers market.

It all starts with individuals. You probably try to associate with like-minded people. When and if you raise a family of your own, you'll teach your kids not to be bigots, not to exploit people or resources unfairly, to be peaceful, not war-like, etc. Your own little circle is one positive little group and there's a zillion of those little pockets all over the world. When we get enough of them, the change will happen. Your own garden, public action or protest, speaking out in word or action, all are good. Think about what you want to say, and how to say it in words and deeds.

I totally feel you on this. It's good to see people who are so like-minded my age on these forums. I hate the place I've grown up in as well. I just wish we could meet people like us in person....

Wow, that's a powerful statement. I've grown up in a really negative environment and have dealt with isolation and negativity for nearly all of my life. I'm still here in fact, and it's incredibly hard when the friends I have are busy and I'm stuck in this house. Nature's hard to come by as well. My neighbourhood's sort of closed off, and I don't drive. The friends I have are actually in the next suburb.

I've been yearning to find family through close, meaningful friendships, and so the way you worded that just really hit me, honestly.

Yeah, I really hope so, too. I hope that road trip you brought up in that other thread really happens. I agree with everything you've written, and I really feel that big things are bound to happen. (Your first post here brings back to my shroom trip. haha)

hey steph! i absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm and determination!
i am 17, also live in a close-minded community, most of the people are either wannabee "gangstas" or people who just want to get high all of the time, yet still beat people up.
the way i've tried to start something is by having peace gatherings:
about 80 people have shown up int he park to paint each other's faces and bodies, blow bubbles, enjoy Nature, meet and love new people, play music together, and meditate together. but in the last few i had, it became all about getting high, and destroying things :(
Friends and i have been collecting blankets, books, clothes, accessories, and making things also, to give away for free in the summer at something i am creating called Free-Ins. They'll be like the Love-Ins, but it is also going to give you an alternative to capitalistic consumption:) we are also going to be giving out free food, free music performances, and free poetry readings. i really hope this will work! if you have any ideas, that'd be aweosme also! <3

The annual Rainbow Gathering could be considered a love in... Pagan festivals... However, you're likely to meet more old people than people your age. Hippie grand children.
