I have a theory that the reason most people in power are corrupt is the fact that only power hungry people really strive that hard to be in power, they generally are immoral and only look out for no.1, and their numbers out weigh the atavist types as greed is easy.

But if you have a system that penalises those that genuinely want to help and change things for the better and rewards those that are compliant to the wishes of wealth, then you end up with the selfish and corrupt.

The problem is that in many place a lot of people actually support the corrupt and corrupting system.

Take England (and I’m purposely not saying Britain) it has a right wing press that has in the main dictated political policy for the last 30 years (it goes back further but lets stick with recent history) pushing the neoliberal line and moulding public opinion along those lines – ‘bigging up’ those that fitted into that agenda and putting down those that didn’t.

And many people pick up the drip, drip, drip of ridicule, innuendo and bias that is served up to them between the tits, celebrity froth and gossip.

Thankfully we have the BBC which by law has to be politically balanced which is the very reason why it is constantly under attack from such people as the Murdock’s and why its political balance is always portrayed by many in the right wing press as been a leftwing bias (Murdock would prefer the kind of ‘fair and balanced’ approach as his US Fox News).

Thing is that many go in to politics not because they are out to gain for themselves but because they actually what to help or change things for the better. They spend long hours doing things for little or no pay, leafleting in the dark and the rain, keeping awake during boring meetings, spending their Saturdays on street corners and many other things.

But if you put your head above the parapet and you are not what wealth wants or corruptible to its wishes then watch out.

We need jobs and opportunities. Our wonderful politicians have made it so businesses can and actually should send jobs overseas.

Sadly it is not a balanced as it should be. During the Blair years they were pretty much a New Labour party political channel. I also remembered they refused to show the Gaza Crisis Appeal ad when the Isreali government pressured them to drop it saying that it was 'politically motivated and comprimised their impartiallity!'.
