So, i just got a really groovy job at a plant nursery. i've always wanted a good farm/agriculture related job so this is really awesome! I figure experience in a greenhouse could also be very useful in the future.. I have some experience with plants and gardening but not a huge amount, its more so something i really want to learn about. Has anyone worked on a farm or a plant nursery before? Any Tips? Things to keep in mind? Cheers
I haven't worked in a plant nursery per se, but have tended to greenhouse plants for biology research at my college. Seeing as we were messing with the plants' genes, a majority of them died lol. But it was a lot of fun. I don't have any tips and I'm sure your boss will fill you in on how they want things done. Best of luck with the new job!
Yeah thanks man. Yeah i'll probably get trained real well. I'm just so damn excited for this job! When i came back to vancouver in october, the first thing i did was make a big list of all the farms and greenhouses around the area, and starting making calls and emails. So its pretty legit that after months of determination i finally got work at one! Woohoo!
My face job ever was a pop up nursery, the kind that set up in a parking lot for a few months, then pack up. I learned quite a bit about water and wind, and how stores affect young plants. I also learned that realtors buy a lot of plants for open houses!
