I'm a travel agent, I've been doing it for about three months. It is a bloody hard job, the hours are too long, the pay is VERY average and you have to deal with Joe Public. But, the perks (when you get them) are awesome, every day is something new and different and I love my workmates. I wonder if I made the right choice?
Hello, you can quit your job anytime you want, can't you. So, I'm with GLEN here. Every job has its ups and downs. I have the best job in the world, but even I think about quitting sometimes. Regards Gyro
Damn All this time I thought your general job was being a witch. Once again the wall of illusion comes crashing down leaving the harsh reality of Travel agents instead of witches... *sigh*
Getting along well with your co-workers is very important imo. So yea, i'd say keep the job as long as u're happy with it. ^ i was thinking the same. Kinda disappointed now...
It's a job, not a statement of your life. Keep it till it gets to be intolerable then move on. In the meantime enjoy those paychecks. Glen and Gyro got it going on. They got wisdom, listen to 'em
I feel your pain on working with the public every day. Sometimes they can be rude as hell but when they leave you can be like oh well they have a shitty bitter life
unless you have another job lined up already, it's probably not a good idea to walk out on the one you do have.
Do travel agents get to travel a lot? Or are they more so stuck in the office? Sorry if that sounds stupid. I'm looking to get on a career path where I travel a fair bit
You may never be happy in your work, because really, work is work, nobody wants to do it, nobody really likes having to do it. Some people enjoy what they do, but there are aspects to every job that suck, and some days are going to suck worse than others. If you can find something else, then by all means, jet, but if not, try to find your happiness in work where you can, and then focus your energy when you are off the clock on being happy then.
lol, It's just a realization I, myself, have had to come to lately. Because it crawls up my ass every single day that I graduated 6th in class in high school and all I have to show for that is a salaried position at a fast food restaurant. I make more than a lot of my friends who did graduate college, and I don't struggle nearly as much as I used to, I love the people I work with, and oftentimes, I find what I do fun. However, I can't stand how disrespected my profession is when it is just as honest of a job as any, and working with the public is more often than not, absolute shit. But I may never be completely happy in any job, so for now I decided to take the happiness I get from the one I have right now and just roll with it. It's really all that can be done.
Lol...I made this user name when I was 18...I haven't been Wiccan for years...before that I was 'mick_jagger_is_so_hip'...now we all know THAT ain't an illusion!!! :sunny:
definatly did the right thing...Chill on it for awhile..think about the universe when in times of trouble
Perhaps, but you just know he doesn't sit around and listen to "What a Drag it is Getting Old" either.
wiccan_witch I'm just curious to know, do a travel agent get paid by commissions only or it is base pay?
