I'm with you. One of the best rock bands from the 70s. I really like their stuff through Mob Rules. After that its spotty for me.

Yeah the band was a real 70's force . I mean i'm not a real fan of the band . Because i appreciate all their album between 69 to 81 ,after when Dio leave and the rest of the band are turnin' to 34 they loose their way (i know so much bands that i find a conclusion that a lot of band have loose definitly their freshness at 33-35 years old) . Their next album with Ian Gillian (ex Deep Purple) is like a modern blond long hair hard rock LP without a soul in it...and Gillian had completely loose his original voice to sing as high as Dickinson (Iron maiden).
Generally the hard rockers loose their own soul in the early 80's (82-83).

I specially like the Mob Rules A side(81) , Sabotage(75) their most dark and mad album, but the best of all, the most psychedelic , diverse , and rich (not like their early lp's) is "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"(73) that 4 me reach the level of the Zepellin for the first and last time.

I love the Ozzy-era Sabbath. After "Never Say Die!" it just wasn't Sabbath for me...

They lost that signature sound in my opinion.

I'm not too much into Black Sabbath except for some covers. With my increasing interest in Doom Metal I'm sure I'd like it, though. I don't find Ozzy to be a great singer but let's not let details hamper me even before I've listened to the music properly.

Through covers though I do like "Black Sabbath" a lot. But I think these covers of the song were slower and heavier than the original. I've never even heard the original *blush*. Okay I'll go listen some now.

i love black sabbath. only in the ozzy years though. i think when they replaced ozzy with ronnie james Dio black sabbath was killed. dont get me wrong, ronni james dio was awsome in his solo band (DIO), and he is a good singer, but he just simply cant replace ozzy.

I love Ozzy and the old Sabbath. First concert I saw with an "altered mind". Haven't heard it for years and years, but I liked Technical Exctasy, too. Ozzy singing 'IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII like smoking joints"! [IMG]

The song "Black Sabbath" is one of the slower ones, except for the end part where it gets fast. But the whole first part of the song is really slow. Its on their first album Black Sabbath. From a doom metal perspective, that's probably the one you'd like most.

Technical Ecstasy - Yay! I loved that album, haven't listened to it in a long time

Haha, yeah, I guess its not one of their most remembered works. I have all their albums from the ozzy and dio days. Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die have always been my favorite. And Masters of Reality too. Its all stuff I was into and collected as a young lad. You got to see them in their hayday. I'm jealous.

You know, back then, it was like a word of mouth thing. They didn't look for and didn't get any publicity. But we loved them and I saw them every time they came to town (Dallas), many times. I've only seen Ozzy solo once, up here, and that was great fun, too. "Go fucking crazy!"

"Technical Ecstacy" is a very over-looked album!

"You Won't Change Me" and "All Moving Parts (Stand Still)" are classic Sabbath songs in my opinion!

their first four albums are great!

i once saw a clip of black sabbath performing blue suede shoes. it must have been a pretty early one coz ozzy was wearing bright orange flares!

Heaven and Hell is one of my favourite albums of all time... I like Dio's mythologically influenced lyrics.

Hahaha, I vaguely remember seeing that (or something very similar) on tv when i was a kid. It was on one of those 70s bandstand type shows. 70s fashions are so funny. I agree, Heaven and Hell is a great album (the best non-ozzy sabbath i think) and Electric Funeral is an awesome song.
