I'm looking to get away from the city for a while, but I can't afford to just pack everything up and leave since I'm in college and want to complete it. This summer I want to live in a secluded cabin for a month or so, preferably somewhere in the mountains or hills. I'd prefer somewhere with running water, electricity would also be nice, but neither are total necessities. Basically I don't want a vacation cabin rental that's geared toward families. It doesn't have to be totally secluded, a few neighbors are okay, but it should be somewhere relatively unpopulated. Oh, and it should be cheap. Any ideas? I've scoured the web and all I can find are vacation spots.
Those are all beautiful places (I grew up 30 minutes from Tahoe), but more what I'm looking for is how to go about finding very cheap cabin rentals. Craigslist doesn't seem to have any leads, nor do any travel sites. Do you know of any specific companies and/or websites that have cheap cabin rentals in these places? Or where to look? I'm wondering if it's even possible to find a peaceful little cabin anymore without paying out the ass...
Check out the foothills (some call them mountains) of N Georgia. Specifically Ellijay, Blue Ridge or Blairsville.
