For anyone thats worrying about coming out, I just wanted to share this. Sometimes the ones you least expect to be are the most accepting I've been in a relationship with my partner for nearly three years, we have a home together and been living together for two and a half years. This is our third christmas together, and it reminded me of something funny that happend last year. I never as such came out to my family, as I never felt the need to, me and my partner just went with the flow and did what felt right and after a while the family gathered we were more than friends. Well the only person I was careful about telling was my nan, she's a lovely nan and I love her to bits, but she can be a bit opinionated sometimes so though I would never deny our relationship, we never flaunted it either. coming up to last christmas, our second whilst living together my mum said to me "your nan asked me if you and Dee are a couple yesterday and I told her yes" *Que jaw drop and choke on cola* so I said "what did she say?" "She said oh thats ok, I just wanted to know what card to get them for christmas, special friend or grandaughter and her partner"
What a lovely story, which just goes to show that we should never pre-judge ... as even our pre-judgments of our elderly grandparents can turn out to be wrong.
