i think when ya log into old hippies forum, the song titled....old hippie, recorded in the late 70"s by the bellamy brothers should magically start playing, i mean how much more approprate could you get? check the lyrics in what song was playing when you decided you were a hippie forum

Good song lyrics, but I don't really like that much country music besides Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. Someone should re-do the song.

im not a huge country music fan either, but you cant deny the title and the lyrics fitting the post. when it came out i never heard it, it was only a couple years ago i walked into a bar and it was playing on the juke box and it caught my attention, playing the guitar, hell i had to learn that if for nothing more than the entertainment value

The whole beauty of that song is it came from a couple of 60's rockers who became country artisits as did alot of Old Hippies who became Country fans.

you are very estudt, the background of the artists, the life story of a lot of us old country boy hippies, and the subject matter, realization of aging, reflection of past times and trying to regain a youthfullness that isnt coming back by raising a little herb, then off to the war, then to a slower pace more modern lifestyle(responsibility) but the old hippie still comes to the surface on occassion.

now thats a hippie....its all inside you, either you have it or you dont.
    thanks for the response

retired hippie, we should list a few rock singer/groups that started out in rock n roll and made it as successfull country singers, the new generation would be amazed where some of the music we all like came from

Both Kid Rock and Sheryl Crowe have dabbled in country. Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish fame has a rather formidable country career right now. Vince Gill started out in Pure Prairie Leage. Waylon Jennings was the guitarist for Buddy Holly, He missed the plane ride.

Bob Dylan is still a country music fan Nashville Skyline anyone? And Ringo Starr was a huge fan of country music during the Beatles early days. I remember him doing Carl Perkins song Matchbox. Oddly enough, Carl switched from country to Rock & Roll because girls liked it better, and he thought their was more money in it. Then Carl got a pretty good career boost when his Air-Force buddy Johnny Cash inspired him to write Blue Suede Shoes. After Johnny heard a young man admonish his dance partner for stepping on his Blue Suede Shoes...and the rest is history.

Just fired it up through the tube of U, although I feel the first line could have been not restricted to 35 years' = Very Apt! Especially the Chorus !
    :)
Thanks for pointing it out :)
