    Hello,
    I'm fairly new to meditation.
So, maybe I'm talking nonsense, but is there a particular type of meditation to help with anxiety and/or depression problems?
Do you have any book to propose?
    Thanks

Not sure what meditation would help, but yoga would. Also, Vitamin D and B are great for depression. I pop vit D all winter long like it's candy (I'm a seasonal depressive and have quit taking any pharmaceuticals). Exercise helps too aka yoga.

I like chanting for anxiety/depression. There are some forms of deity which should suit you. Do a search for whatever qualities you feel are strong in you that you would strengthen, or weak and strengthen and then seach what deity works with those, and do that for awhile with no limitations, no demands, social interaction, etc, just do a chant every day or so. The chanting keeps you from going into your thoughts too much. The deity gives a positive color.

Depression and anxiety are endlessly self recursive thought patterns which are hard to break. Working with a deity and mantra is to create a new recursive thought pattern, but one which has a history of development of positivity. Buddhist and Hindu deities are most easy to find practices for but one could do mantras for any religion.

The main thing is a daily practice, with a mala of 108 beads, one mala, at least, or up to ten. Every day. No restrictions in conduct. Do in private. Make a strike in a journal for every mala finished. Try to do 150,000 japs or 15,000 malas before trying another deity.

    Personally I like Saraswati.
