So what do you guys think of this fucker? Pure garbage? Hero? Menace to society? Great entertainer? Just a loser with a small penis? All of the above? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9AvIpoV0ps"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9AvIpoV0ps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMSWRT6ynhs&feature=related"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMSWRT6ynhs&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_nWRVCNwg4"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_nWRVCNwg4
I never met him face-to-face, but we did correspond for several years, back in the early 1980s. I was producing a fanzine, liked his stuff and promoted it. He sent me promo copies of his records. All I can say is that in correspondence he was a nice guy, generous with the stuff he sent.. Its always best to bear in mind that the public image and the private person aren't necesserily the same. .
That's really cool that you were in contact with him like that. I mostly just think that he was interesting, and that the world needs a few crazies every now and then to remind the rest of us how boring we really are. And yeah I'm aware that he could be a very nice polite person around some people.
i saw gg in concert here in san antonio, texas back in the early 1990's. there used to be an underground club here called tacoland that allowed gg and the murder junkies to perform there. the band fired up the music and gg started growling and/or singing. after a couple of minutes, gg stop singing and squatted down, then took a dump on the floor.:ack2: next he got down on all fours and started singing to his shit and, then, he took a bite out of it, and swallowed.uke: then he stood up and walked around with a shit stain across his butt. by that time the police came in and arrested him. i thought to myself, "i could have gone to the state mental hospital and seen all this for free." my next thought was, "fuck elvis!" "he is nothing but a fake!" gg is the REAL king of rock 'n' roll! :2thumbsup:
Interesting point... the stuff he was doing when I first got in contact with him - as GG Allin & The Jabbers if memory serves - was considerably different to what he was doing later in his career - kind of more "new wave". There was a considerable style-shift at some point, similar to the one taken by the Dead Kennedys, for example. Like this one... [and the pic is the cover of the album of his I once had - autographed too ! Whatever happened to it ? Would be a nice earner on Ebay nowadays...] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lgk1yhp40wc"]GG Allin - You Hate Me and I Hate You - YouTube .
HOLY FUCK!!!! THE HATED DOCUMENTARY!!! YEEEESSSS!!!!! Also, I think he was a hero, a god among men, and a credit to society. I would have drank with him or even tried blow for my first time with him if I were the age I am now when he was still alive. I'll settle for finding his grave and sending him a nice big pile of shit and some piss to enjoy in the afterlife.
I think he was just another twisted and lost dude caught up in americas love of the CULT OF PERSONALITY . He had an image to live up to and progressively got more and more sucked into it, and he died for it, sad .
the one and only GG allin song i like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KNBYby58C0"]GG Allin - Outskirts Of Life - YouTube that, and his cover of carmalita
GG is the perfect example of punk. It's more about the attitude then the music or any ability to create or play it. Just a gimmick taken to the extreme.
I haven't span the depths of the GG Allin discography, but he was all gimmick, no talent whatsoever. Those shit stunts pretty much speak for the music.
