Why Do You Hate X-Mas!

I have the unfortunate problem of having Christmas two times this year. One with my mother and boyfriend and one with my family.

The reason I hate Christmas- From my shady recollection of my childhood growing up with my mother, the month of December is the time of my fathers death, my mothers past husband divorcing her, and the most important part. Her getting even drunker then she normally was and crying all night.

The Reason she cried the most: She could not afford presents for other family members and me! She did her best but we were poor.

That is the reason I hate X-mas. Crying and pain.

Holidays bring up the mixed emotions we all have. The happy and sad times, the time spent and the time we can no longer spend with those that mattered to us. It at times gets pretty jumbled as we are all pieces of our past that define our future.

I am sorry you had that pain and the memories that go with that and I also feel for your mom who probably wanted to give you a holiday that was good but her hurt was so amplified by the season.

I do not hate Christmas as my Dad who was probably one of the most important people in my life, loved the season. While I have a void each year since he has passed I also have the memory and faith that he was right in that family mattered and at Christmas it was the easiest time to say it. I miss my Dad each and every day but I also know he would not want me to. I see him in me and also my kids and know that life is what we make it.

Make new memories that give you peace, joy and solace.

My family was always detached and rather distant, we haven't put any emphasis on holidays for at least the last 12 years. This time of year always sucks, not just because I have to paint on a smile and be around people I don't love, but it brings up unpleasant memories of people I used to know.

That's why I hate Xmas. Memories and family. May everyone else hopefully find some comfort & joy this year

Besides the tourists and commercialism?

My mum died 2 weeks before, and my dad 3 days after.

I have no siblings, and my daughters live away and rarely make it home because of work...

I could go on...but that'll do I think

 

I don't hate it

I mostly don't care

I'm not a christian or a parent

I don't care to spend a bunch of money or get a bunch of stuff
I don't like the music or the media hype

If it weren't constantly pushed in my face, I'd be happy to ignore christmas all together

 

It's a nice time of the year I dont hate it at all

 

I LOVE Christmas!! I don't love the commercialism of it all, and the greed and the avarice. I do, however, love seeing my children open their gifts. I love helping them make handmade gifts for others. I love shunning the "box" stores and giving my money to the few mom and pop places I can still find. I love teaching my kids that it's about GIVING and not receiving. But, all this loveliness aside, I also end up eating xanax like they're M&Ms... just to have to deal with a couple of my "wonderful" family members (a cousin and her mom), who I firmly believe would benefit from a certain herb just to calm their nut-case-ness down.

 

So Next Xmas Bake Them Some "Special Cookies" And

The Family Gathering Should Just Float Through The Day...:dizzy2:

I dont hate xmas , i hate what the day has become -a frikken "Hallmark Holiday" of which large corporation seem to take advantage of by ramming adverts down our throats to buy what ever krap they are floggin .The true meaning of christmas disapearred years ago never to return .Plus i am a pagan so dont celebrate it but respect to those who do , pity the whole message gets lost in between the opening all the gifts + spending so much money that you have to remorgage the house to pay the credit card

 

Having to turn the switch for the Xmas lights on and off 46 times or else all the other reindeer will hate Rudolph

 

My Christmases have gotten suckier as I got older. Now it also sucks because this year my mom made me feel so guilty because this is the second year I spent the holidays with my boyfriend and his family. I wouldn't have but it's just the only time that his grandmother deems it worth it to drive me up there to spend some time with him (it's a long distance thing). And even then he's kind of depressed because his family is all kind of...estranged from his extended family. The only reason he wasn't totally miserable was because I was there.

Christmas will be so much better when we're having our own family. Sorry for your situation though, OP

 

I just hate having to buy people things.
Not because i'm cheap but cause i'm a horrible shopper and don't know what to buy for anyone.

 

How do I hate Xmas? Let me count the ways.
I hate Xmas to the depth and breadth and height

Because it makes people stupid.

 

For some reason, being alone and isolated seems to sting even harder for me during that time of year, so that's one reason why I don't like it. And also, how going into any shop in town from mid-November onwards feels like being compressed in a tin of sardines. lol

 

I don't hate it. Not keen on the commercialism. But it seems to be a season where mankind becomes a little kinder. Whether it's religious sentiment,sheer guilt, or easy suggestibility whatever can bring a little positive energy is beneficial.
Although I do hate that that a family member of mine only believes that love is communicated by money value and quantity, that's a little irritating. I really don't NEED gifts every single Christmas.

 

Next time this happens just remind yourself that christmas is about the birth of jesus christ and not presents and santa claus. This might make your mother a little happier instead of depressed. It's about Jesus, you could try going to church and you might not feel so alone during this day.
