How safe is it to evaporate alcohol (99% grain whatever or Everclear) and how much heat? Would it be safer to boil it in a big way oversized pot? (the one use to cook) and last but not least where can I get my hands on some 99% grain alcohol? I have only seen like 75% or lower.

As far as heat goes, only do it on an electric stove. If you have a gas stove, DO NOT TRY TO BOIL IT OFF. The fumes might catch fire, even with a big pot.

In addition to what TrippinBTM posted, I'd like to add that a double boiler is a good idea as well. You can still generate enough heat to evaporate the alcohol and it's one more step to being safe.

Just let the alcohol evaporate off naturally. Or, actually, the best way i would do it would be to just put it in a big, heat risistant bowl and put it in the oven. Then set the oven on its lowest temp (like 200 degrees).
