Hello everyone, I've started dieting about a month ago and I was really committed to it; no cheating, exercising, drinking a lot of water, no alcohol. Everything went smoothly the first two weeks, but then I stopped losing weight. Currently I'm 5 ft 5 and weight 140 pounds. Nothing really changed in my diet, I tried working out even more, but still not losing weight anymore, it's really frustrating and my motivation is slowly fading away. I get up on the scale after every meal, I weight myself in the morning, after exercising, before I go to bed, I'm literally obsessing over it and I realize it's not good for me. If you could please tell me what I'm doing wrong and why I stopped losing weight, since I try to eat less calories that when I first started dieting. Also, has anyone heard of a quantum scale? It's supposed to be a scale that doesn't show you your weight, just records it and tells you your progress from the first day. Anyone used it? I'm thinking it would help me break this unhealthy habit of weighting myself 20 times/day. I'm starting to lose motivation to go on dieting because of it and it also irritates people around me. Any kind of advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hey hun, That is usually the case with weight loss - you lose a lot really quickly at the start, then it plateaus for a while, and for some time it feels like you are not losing anything. This is the stage when most people lose motivation and start to give up. Realise that it is TOTALLY normal, you WILL continue to lose weight if you keep up your great habits of healthy eating and exercising. What you need at this stage is some support. Is there anyone you can talk to about the weight loss, that can keep you encourage and motivated? Perhaps someone you can exercise with? Please don't give up! This is so, so normal, and it WILL pass.
Here's some tips for weight reduction that works . Take Lecithin with your meals. Say, if you have a buger and fries take 6. Take three otherwise with meals, the 'heavier' the meal the more Lecithin you take. It breaks up fat. Chickweed is also a great fat emulsifier. It will melt the fat right off your ass. Take two with meals. Drink Liquid Chlorophyll. I teaspoon in 8 oz of water three times a day. This will energize you and balance your matabolisum. When you reach a plateau. Do a Colon Cleanse. This will break the cycle. A full body massage will help move the fat from the tissue and into the bodys system to be eliminated. Get a Dancing To The Oldies tape by Richard Simmons. Do the work out to music. That will shake the fat from them thighs. Eat less red meat and eat more veggies. Get rid of all the crap in boxes in your cupboard. Bake, broil or steam your meats and veggies, avoid fried foods but you can have them once in a while. Just take more Licithin if you do. If you follow this method you will lose weight. I lost 42lbs this way in 9 weeks. I hope it works for you Bright Blessing on your journey sh
Drink extra water, track all of your food somewhere, I suggest fitday.com, STOP WEIGHING YOURSELF. Take a break, keep up everything and weigh in once a week or once a month. I know, it can be tempting but if it's hurting your motivation and drive then it's important to limit the weigh ins. I personally stop losing weight while I'm experiencing PMS. So if you're period is coming up or happening then that might be an issue. Stop stressing, take a deep breath and stay motivated! Good luck!!
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT weigh yourself after every meal, please. It will only drive you insane. Just throw your scale away and once a week go to costco or wal mart and use one of there scales. Eat something right when you wake up in the morning to get your metabolism started. For exercising you need to walk, jog, run, all of it.
Hey! Ive just lost 8 kilos by changing my diet dramatically. One thing I learned was that you cant weigh yourself ALL the time. Make a day that you weigh your self. My weigh ins are one Tuesdays! After a week. I go pee and poo (lol) before I do so i know my real weight. The first few weeks is water weight until it goes uphill and you need to increase your exercise. Diet changes are important. If you want MAXIMUM weightloss - you need to cut down your carb intake alot! So brown breads and brown rice (very minimally in a week). Have grilled food and alot of salad and vegetables. You have to cut out chips, soda, chocolate, white bread, pasta, cheese, sauces sugarey drinks (also fruit juices). Have chromium plus tablets that maintain your sugar levels and sometimes supress your apetite. Also you must have breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, early dinner and dessert. This will increase your metabolism!. Weightloss differs in weeks. One week I lost nothing and cried because I was DEVESTATED. Than the week after I lost two kilos Continue with water and 5 days of exercise with a minimal of 30 minutes. Cardio is important, so running is amazing Goodluck with getting to your ideal goal! Its the best feeling when you look how you wanna xx
Firstly what is your goal weight , secondly diets dont work overnight it takes time a commitment .Also what is your bmi are you really over weight ? I understand your need to weigh yourself all the time , i do the same but it actually frustrates your more .I lost 25 kg in 12 weeks but that was using prescription meds also going back to being a vegetarian helps alot .Otherwise go low gi but remember you must eat otherwise your body goes into starvation mode and it begins to store fat. Its no good going on diet today then 3 months down the road eating what you used to .If you want to maintain your goal weight when you reach it it takes discipiline .But good luck and hope you come right with your diet
as you start coming closer to your bmi it becomes harder to shift weight your body clings to the fat it might be hard to achieve - but stick with it i have told people countless times in the past - it's as easy and as quick to lose weight and it was to put it on in the first place. nothing happens over night - don't expect miracles.
Thanks everyone for all your replies! rebecca94 - usually I have low fat yogurt and fruits in the morning, I snack on nuts or cereal bars, lunch is usually low fat chicken breast with either a bit of rice or tomato salad and for dinner fruits again. wiccan witch - thank you for your lovely words, it means a lot to me that you took your time to encourage me. shameless heifer - thanks for the tips, I didn't know Lecithin breaks fat, definitely worth trying. I really appreciate your advice momorawr and r0llinstoned - I'm trying not to weight myself that often because I know it's not healthy and it's annoying people around me but I can't help it Right now I feel like the scale is my worst enemy. La-sas - Thank you for sharing and for your advice, I appreciate it. wisp - my goal weight is 115 pounds, but even when I was that I still looked a bit chubby, so I'm not really sure. The Imaginary Being - thank you for encouraging me, it really helps. I'll keep you updated on my progress, honestly your support means a lot to me!
Be careful with being too strict on your diet, eat healthy of course, but allow yourself some guilty pleasures every now and again. If you don't your body will still be producing the chemical signals it is now that are pretty much saying "what happened to all that good fat, salt and sugar I was getting before?" causing your urges to ear unhealthy food really strong even after you stop dieting. Which Is the main reason most diets ultimately fail. The idea is to eat more healthy food, not eat less over all. Good luck!
You should probably look at a chart and see what someone your height "should" weigh. 115 sounds a bit low for your height. Also, you don't notice any loss when you weigh yourself that much, even if it's happening. Like someone said, you lose quickly then plateau. Remember, if you're building muscle as you work out, it weighs more than fat. You really should be measuring inches lost, not pounds. I weigh 6lbs more than I did this time last year, but I am thinner and more toned. Throw away the scale NOW and just exercise. You should also NOT track your food in a diary if you're getting a bit crazy with the scale. It'll just turn you anorexic.
Eat only whole grain bread and when you eat meat only eat chicken or steak which promotes weight loss :2thumbsup: hotwater
If you're 5'5 and 140, maybe you're not losing any more weight because your body is at a homeostasis. At that height and weight, you should be within a healthy BMI range already. However, you could try changing things up a bit if you're stuck in a plateau. Try eating more calories (I know it sounds crazy but it works) for a week or so and then go back down. I've lost 60 lbs in about 7 months and plateaued a few times, this always brought me out of it. Don't be discouraged if your loss is slow. The closer you get to your goal weight, the harder it'll be to lose those last few pounds. ALSO, if you're lifting weights at all or doing any heavy duty cardio this can affect it as well. Muscle is heavier than fat and you could be gaining muscle. I suggest keeping a diary of your measurements, because your results won't always be discernible on just the scale.
Hello again everyone! I've decided to follow your advises and just relax a little bit. Delta 9 The Psychonaut suggested that I allow myself a few guilty pleasures and I did (nothing too extravagant though). Also I switched to the Quantumscale instead of just using the regular one and it helped me unwind because I just didn't see that number staring me in the face anymore, but still kept a track of my weight. As for losing weight, it's still not happening, but I'm taking things slowly and not being so drastic about it. I'm considering going to a nutritionist next week and also got a gym subscription, so things are looking bright. Thank you!
I ran your height and weight from your first post in a bmi calculator for women, and it said Result Your BMI is 25.0, indicating your weight is in the Normal weight range category for women of your height. At 115, you would barely be in the normal range. So, think about splitting the difference and focusing on being fit.
hello! i know this is kind of old, but if you are still interested i can tell you how i lost weight, maybe it will help you. i focused rather on eating healthy than losing weight, and the latter sort of happened. just cut the junk food, juice(except from fresh fruit juice), all sorts of crap snacks and sweets. boil and grill rather than fry, eat a lot of fruits, veggies, salads. eat wholegrain bread, pasta etc. (you probably know this already) some good tips would be to eat more often and smaller amounts rather than 3 big meals a day, this speeds your metabolism. don't starve, or eat a lot less. this slows your metabolism and never works in the long run. (i've been there) don't go off carbs, it's very unhealthy, your body and your mind need carbs. (i've been there too, horrible headaches, lack of energy, and dizziness) eat a lot for breakfast. i really lost weight this way. i guess it helps you eat less during the day. i actually lost weight eating 3 servings of pasta almost every morning for about 2 weeks. i wasn't doing this to lose weight, i was actually worried that i would gain weight, but i couldn't help myself, it was so good. but i lost weight, cause i ate a lot less during the day this is pretty basic stuff, but it really helped me lose weight without eating less, i love food, and forcing myself not to eat would be torture ) i hope it helps you too ps: i didn't read all the anterior posts, so sorry if i'm repeating stuff
