I wasn't alive for the summer of love, or for Woodstock, and my parents won't let me join the OWS protests. I mean granted they aren't close by, but I still wanted to go. ;_;
I didn't know there were only 3 great things that have ever happened. Trust me, you will experience amazing things. Life is full of beauty and wonder and miracles happen every day. Maybe not on the same scale as woodstock, but if you know how to look you can see things that are more incredible than you could ever imagine every single day. I understand being upset that you couldn't experience some of the amazing events you've heard about, but it's only so that you will be able to experience all of the amazing things that will happen in your life. You're alive in the place and time that you're in for a reason, and that's to live your life and experience everything you can. There's no use wishin you could experience things that have past.
The only way I would be able to go is if it was in walking distance. I don't know how to drive so my parents would have to drive me and they just see the protesters as a bunch of jobless idiots.
Occupy your front yard. You don't need other people to help you start a protest. Find a public area, make a sign, and get a tent. If you start it they will come.
I'm with eatLSD on this one. Plus, missing the sumemr of love and Woodstock means you missed the Vietnam War and the assassination of JFK, too. Can't complain about those ones really, can you? Look for beauty and greatness in what you see and can experience. Don't miss it because you're spending too much time fretting about missing those things that you cannot see or experience.
there is more to come.. much much much more! we're all here NOW in these human bodies for a reason.. 12-21-2012? maybe.. maybe something else... you're only 16.. you've got plenty of awesome things coming your way.. be patient young grasshopper.
You're currently living in a time where you can share your thoughts and ideas with millions of people through the internet and other social networking devices. Something that's great and will shape the outcome of the human race for years to come.
I didn't think of that. I do live very close to the green. Its just a walk away. Maybe I'll do it there. I just wish it wasn't so cold out. >_<
I'm sorry. I tried but no one else joined me and with my house being so close I wasn't going to camp out. I came back home cuz it got to cold. Also its boring to do that alone. In short I failed. /hangs head in shame.\
all the happy events in the 60s were born out of tragedy (vietnam war, the draft, JFK's assasination, shootings at Kent State, etc etc) and thats the case with the OWS protests as well. Protesting in solidarity with other people may be an amazing experience, but many of those protesters were driven there by very dark times. Also, you haven't missed out yet. The world is on the brink of something crazy. Look at what is happening. American protests are tame compared to other parts of the world. Everywhere people are rising up and saying no to the status quo. And everywhere that status quo is clenching their fists a little tighter. This will culminate in something both amazing and heartbreaking eventually, and I'm sure you'll be able to be a part of it. And if not, you just have to create your own experiences.
