what is the best movie you have seen in the last 6 months? my favorite is rango!i am looking for some comments about the lastest movies! which one should i go see and why?
I watched ''Melancholia'' by Lars Von Trier last night...and was very impressed. Its very slow paced, and not alot happens in the movie...but I really enjoyed it. If you're into action packed hollywood blockbusters, it probably wouldnt be the thing to see though.
i do not know the first movie , what is it about? as for melancholia, i remenber the controversy in may at the cannes festival, why did you like it? i am asking you cause i am not a fan of the blockbusters, i like new things and weird and creative movies made by daring directors, i know lars von triers is a little bit like that..i am sorry he had to leave the cannes festival, cause nobody could speak decently about the movie itself after that..can you tell me more about melancholia?
the tree of life is the winner of the cannes festival, is it so good? it is true brad pitt is always in good movies, he is from these actors that do not sign up for a stupidity..
Melancholia is about the relationship between 2 sisters, against the backdrop of an impending global disaster. Theres a lot of dialogue and now background music, in the style of Dogme 95 films I guess. Its certainly not the easiest of Von Triers movies to watch, I'd recommend watching Dogville or Manderlay first maybe. I'm a big fan of his, even though I think he is sometimes controversial for the sake of being controversial.....
Patty I have to agree with you on Rango...I especially loved the short moment in the beginning with the reference to Hunter S. Thompson and Dr Gonzo...I loved the fact that Johnny Debt threw that in for HST...just made me really look forward to the Rum Diaries (still have not seen) and made me throw my criterion Fear and Loathing Back in
I love my Criterion Fear and Loathing. HST does commentary for fucks sake. He also does Cocaine in one of the bonus interviews hidden by the "cut" sign.
But dogville and manderlay is an entirely different path of Lars Von Trier. Melancholia is film wise very close to Anti Christ, but i think that was banned in the US if that's where you are from. Story wise, it's of course not about sexuality or anything, but it contains a lot of the same ideas.. Aspecially about portraying the woman as something selfish and cruel. (pardon my english, i'm danish You should watch all his films if you're into all that. ยจ Peace :daisy:
really? the topic of :we need to talk about kevin does not seem to be so exciting, but it depends how it is made..recently i watched: cowboys and aliens, that is very good and unusual..
