Yes, it can do both. Sometimes ladies were to much or to strong of a perfume or one that I just don't like. It is bad when you can smell someone coming at you before they get there.

I prefer to have to get close to a woman to be able to smell her. It is kinda like she is just doing it for me, and I have been allowed to smell her. Big turn on. Actually a really good attractive is having a pleasant, defining sent. For example I put this nice cologne on I always use, just enough on that walking past someone there's a little hint of me. Girl's will be initially pleased with such a nice sent and when you see them again they will be familiar with the nice sent and associate it with you.

Although some people take it overboard, especially girls but some guys too, they drown themselves with perfumes so that you can smell them on the other side of the room. It's normally unpleasant to have such an overpowering odor.

I think certain scents bring you back to certain memories. I know when I smell (not sure who makes it) a certain cucumber lotion scent mixed with stale cigarettes it reminds me of my first girlfriend (who I barely got to third base with and don't speak to anymore).
