I have heard from a few friends of mine, that when you take shrooms, you brain stem bleeds, is this true? If so I don't think I'll be trippin. Also another question, if your taking shrooms with a girl, would it have the same effect as alcohol? I'm tripping with a long time good friend of mine, and I don't want her all over me cause then she'd get me into a relationship etc... Just wondering

    Thanks

Tripping won't make your brain bleed, or crystallize your spinal cord, make you eat your parents, etc...

As for shrooms being an aphrodisiac, I would highly doubt that she's going to be getting hot 'n bothered while everything around her starts melting. ;)

If I hear that brain stem bleeding myth once more Imma gunna snap! My favorite variation is: " LSD causes your brain to bleed, and then it scabs over, then when the scab falls off you have a flashback!" UGH! stuff like that hurts my brain :$

As far as making you horny? I think sex on mushrooms would scare the shit outta me. :)

    Take care.

    no way dude
this is how shrooms, acid, mescaline, morning glories etc work
ok u eat them, they get absorbed into your blood stream
all those psychadelics contain something that stops the flow of serotonin in your brain. now serotonin is the shit that control sleep conciousness and dreams.
when it gets to your brain it starts stopping the flow
the trip continues and the serotonin slows more and more.

anyways i could go more in depth but dont feel the need

mushrooms have less long lasting effects than weed (atleast for me)
aka in my opinion shrooming is like an awake dream :)

your brain isnt gonna bleed or anything

    only in a dream

Google search 'negative effects of mushrooms' and you'll see that magic mushrooms have NO long term effects

i think if your having a good trip having sex or massage or whatever would be sweet, since your bodys so sensitive and weird feeling, but its not like you would want to get some just cuz your shrooming

melatonin (sp?) is the drug that gets released that makes you sleepy. seratonin controls your happyness/sadness levels. i have no idea how psychadelics work, however i know their safe, and I've tried shrooms a few times and they were without a doubt the best drug I've ever done. My first trip helped me see myself, and changed my life. Since that i've quit tweaking (only did on occasion), dexing, and popping pills. Just been pot n shrooms since that.

    1. they dont make any part of your body bleed especially not your brian thats just stupid.

2.shrooms and alcohol give 2 completely different/opposite effects.

    3. im not sure about others, but for me the thought of sex ceases to exist when im tripping, same as eating. Dam if i was trippin forever id never eat'n'fuck!!! ya i wouldnt last too long.

    anyway hope that helps ya

"Chemically, psilocin and psilocybin are indole hallucinogens that block the action of serotonin (the indole amine transmitter of nerve impulses) in brain tissue. Psilocybin differs from psilocin in having a phosphate group attached to the molecule at the oxygen atom."
    - britanica encyclopedia
"Serotonin is a potent vasoconstrictor and functions as a neurotransmitter. It is concentrated in certain areas of the brain, especially the midbrain and the hypothalamus, and changes in its concentration are associated with several mood disorders. Some cases of mental depression are apparently caused by reduced quantities or reduced activity of serotonin inthe brain. Several antidepressant drugs achieve their effect by inhibiting the body's physiological inactivation of serotonin, resulting in the accumulation of that neurotransmitter in the brain (and a consequent elevation of mood). Conversely, excessive serotonin activity in the brain appears to cause such symptoms as migraines and nausea. The hallucinogenic compound LSD may act by inhibiting the action of serotonin."
    - britanica encyclopedia

    well point proven
    inhibiting serotonin activity

    no brain bleeding

still dont understand how i am misinformed
    but o well

i think because you said seratonin controls your dreams and consciousness....
it does affect your mood, as stated in the britanica encyclopedia quote.

You only have half of the story there, its the whole " serotonin is the shit that control sleep conciousness and dreams." and your thread of logic in your first post that just dosn't make sense.... So because seratonin stops flowing we have a psycadelic experience? Not quite... Look at MDMA it depletes your seratonin levels and results in a mild psycadelic experience.

The chemical structure of psilocin is similar to serotonin. There is evidence that psilocybin reduces the reuptake of serotonin by neurons in the brain allowing this neurotransmitter more time to act in the synapse.

    hmmm

well it seems i may have been misinformed :)
    somewhere down the road
or just got some thoughts crossed
    anyways
serotonin is somewhat related to sleep
because it is synthesised with the amino acid tryptophan
that stuff that makes you sleepy in turkey
anyways serotonin does control mood levels
thanks for helping straightening that out :D

    in conclusion...
your brain stem is not going to bleed!
    haha
