Just picked up my macbook pro 13.3" intel i7 and I love it. My old macbook pro 13.3" is about 3 years old now and the backlit keyboard went out, the plastic screen fell off and the webcam stopped working and i constantly have to reset it. So it last a full 2.5 years before I had any problems. Im stoked that I get a fresh start. TBQH, I cant tell any difference yet as I've only registered it and haven't used it to its fullest capabilities yet but I'm looking forward to it. I'm considering getting an IPAD2 soon or I may just save up for a 3d TV. People say theyre overrated but I tried one first-hand today and it was amazing. Better than theater quality because you don't lose pixel quality or brightness with the glasses. I also got a bluray player today that has an ethernet port for netflix and stuff. Its been quite a good day for electronics for me today.

Intel's new chips are the shit thats why. I7 is a quad core with hyper threading, turbo boost, and has additional virtual cores in addition to its physical cores. What other quad core processors can compare? ...let me save you the research, none.

Yes macbook never lacks in the technology department. my old macbook was an intel dual core processer and it was a 2009 model. I will probably never benefit from the i7 but it was the same price at the military exchange as a i5 would have been at walmart or ebay so why not get double the everything for a mere 200 dollars extra. Does anybody else have the HDMI adapter. Its so badass. I only wish the audio port on my mac supported 5.1 surround sound ; /

but I have a bluray player for that now : )

Get the 3D TV! Really fun to have around and yeah, you don't lose pixel quality. Oh and just thought I'd share but I don't really like mac O.S. I had one and it just didn't sit well with me. The desktop looks unorganized to me. I guess I'm more of a Windows person.

Windows OS is main focus is business, MAC OS main focus is Arts (video editing, gaming, picture edition, photoshop, etc...)....

You can try and create an 'arts' computer from a Windows OS and a business computer from a MAC OS but.... it doesn't work as well haha

Duh! So you go ahead and buy another overpriced Mac? What crappy computers. You can buy an Acer with more features for half the price, including the i7 chip.

My laptops last me at least 5 years with no mechanical problems, even though I dragged them around the world with me, unlike Macs.

When will Mac users ever learn how they're being exploited by a company that rips off so much money from their "fans" that they have more cash than the US government (which they do nothing with - Not even a single donation to charity in all these Steve Job years!).

Enjoy your cheap computers and keep paying that MAC TAX to try and prove that you're cool...

I'm not even gonna argue. your retarded. Did you really just say an acer is better or just as good as a macbook?

    Here we go again!

I've got no problem using Acer desktops, their laptops are generally quite flimsy tho. The PC I'm using right now is a cheap second hand Emachines tower. But guess what, it's got the same intel core 2 CPU as many Macs and it even runs OSX86.

There's this thing called value for your dollar that most Mac fans are oblivious to. Macaroons were looking down on PC users when they were running Motorola CPU's and now they are running actual full PC hardware architecture and most of em' are still as clueless as ever. Today's Mac is really just a name brand PC with a polished Linux OS at premium price, maximized for Apple biased name brand consumerism.

Quite true... Macaroons, I love it!

And Mac users deserve this kind of response. They go everywhere on the net bragging about their latest ripoff from Apple like we're supposed to be impressed.

They expect oohs and ahhs, like we're supposed to think they're smart and cool, but they're not and no amount of Apple hype will make it so...

I will say that the i7 chip is a good processor though, and it is good you bought that, an Intel chip like those used in PCs since nearly day one. I guess Macs are finally getting better now that they're using more of the same hardware like PCs...

Lets take a look at the specs of the Macbook

    13-inch: 2.8 GHz Macbook Pro

    2.8GHz dual-core
Intel Core i7 (????? dual core????)
    4GB 1333MHz
    750GB 5400-rpm
    Intel HD Graphics 3000
    Built-in battery (7 hours)
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/macbook_pro?afid=p219%7CGOUS&cid=AOS-US-KWG

    Cost (Apple store) $1,499

    Now lets spend the same amount on a PC laptop;

    DELL XPS 17

    Processor 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processor 2.20 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.10 GHz
    Operating System
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit, (you can get Linux)
Display 17.3" FHD (1080p) with 2.0MP HD Webcam
    Memory
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz
Hard Drive 1000GB hard drive (7200RPM)
Optical Drive Tray Load Blu-ray® Triple Writer (reads and writes CDs, DVDs, BDs)
    Video Card
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M 3GB graphics with Optimus
    Warranty 1 Year Basic Support

Cost (DELL site): $1,399 (the first $1,499 one was alienware, so I selected the closest Dell off-the shelf model.)

    http://www.dell.com/us/p/laptops?~ck=mn#!facets=52176~0~817062&p=1&sort=price

So off the shelf the Dell has a newer processor, larger screen, twice the RAM, bigger & faster hard drive, Blu Ray burner, better graphics with 3gigs dedicated graphic memory for LESS money.
Not to mention the fact that you can customize your machine and get exactly what you want, can't do that with a Mac.

Hopefully that illustrates what is meant by "value for your dollar" and repurchasing a product that had multiple failures in 3 years is just not very smart.
My daughters Dell laptops are still going strong, ones 5 years old, the other is 3. Both work the same as the first day.

Some people think that BMWs are worth the extra money over a Honda Civic.

I think analyses like this underestimate the value of a superior operating system.

I personally am very happy to spend a few hundred dollars more for Lion because it makes me much more productive every day compared to Windows. I have successfully eliminated Windows machines from my life. I haven't touched one now in almost a year.

you can get the machine spec'd above with Linux instead of Winblows.
With Apple your spending extra for a brand name, but as far as the actual machine goes, you get much less for your money.

There you go again -- considering only the hardware. The OS makes a tremendous difference. Only nerds think that Linux is anywhere near as good as Lion.

Then buy the hardware somewhere other than Apple and install whatever MAC OS you want.
It no longer matters because Apple now uses the EXACT same hardware as PC manufacturers, hence the idea that Apple overcharges it's customers.

It may have made a difference in the past, but not any longer.

I have never heard of anyone doing that and ending up with a good computer.

Again, you are failing to realize that people want to pay more for a better operating system. And if it's closely tied to the hardware, that makes a wonderful combination. For instance, Mac users never have driver issues, but I hear that Windows and Linux users often waste time on such things. Not to mention malware, viruses, etc.

Then why do people continuously switch from windows to macs yet mac users never switch back. Macs are more organized, easier to use, they don't slow down over time.
