I am a lesbian woman (26) living in Upstate New York, the Finger Lakes region to be exact. I've recently moved here from Pittsburgh, which was, as far as I could tell being that I don't frequent LA, NYC, or San Fran, a booming metropolis of wonderful gayness! You wouldn't think gay and Pittsburgh would go together but, from having lived there as an out gay woman, they held their own.

Now I am here, in Upstate New York. It is absolutely beautiful, breathtaking almost. But... there is absolutely no outlet for me, or any, gay people. No gay bars within 50 miles, no gay couples strolling down the street, no gays with an online dating profile, no gay outing groups or support groups or meet-up groups at all. So, what to do...?

Pittsburgh had Lez Liquor Hour, Lez Date, Lez Kayak, Impulse Pittsburgh, Cattivo, Sinferno, Sappho... and at least 100 other things for lesbians to do on a weekend (or weeknight). #missingpgh (I know this isn't twitter but it seemed appropriate!)

I stumbled upon this forum out of desperation, hoping to find someone, anyone, with whom I can chat. I do prefer chatting over coffee or wine but I suppose this will do until I can find the gay bunker hiding all of my fellow 'mo's. I know they're out there! For now, we can have our own beverage of choice on our own end of the keyboard.

So, like I said, I am a 26 year old lesbian on a journey to find my place in life. I just got out of a 3 year relationship in Pittsburgh and have moved back home to get my feet back under me. She wore the pants and kept the house... *sigh* My world was pretty rocked and our breakup was terrible... Just like most of the relationship. I lost myself somewhere a long the way and now I am putting the pieces of myself back together.

So! I am a University student majoring in Adolescent English Education, as of right now. I still have no idea what I want to do with the rest of my life because I am interested in so many things. I rock at marketing and I can run a restaurant with the best of them. I'm very computer savvy and I love to write. I love science, politics, and technology. I think carpentry is a lost art. People who speak publically amaze me and someday I want to be a 3rd Degree Reiki Master. So, being that I am interested in so much, choosing one profession for the rest of my life is a daunting task. We'll see what happens.

    Anyway, that's my little into.

Thanks for reading and talk to you soon!

Hi. Welcome to Hip Forums. You are my daughter's age. Break ups take some time to heal from. You sound like you have a lot going for you. I wish you the best.

@Irminsul Sure, I'll hop on a plane this evening! Being that its the capital city I should hope that there are plenty of gay venues. Maybe my next vacation (in my dreams) will be there! :)

Welcome to hipforums, breaks ups do suck big time, I'm glad you are currently doing your own thing.

You seem like a very intelligent woman, marketing and know how to run a restaurant, that's beyond amazing. Glad you found this site.

Hey Xela, Ithaca is about 2 hours from where I'm at which is definitely doable! I've looked in to visiting there a lot and I think that I'll be making a day trip there soon. I just wish that I knew somebody there. I am all for going into a bar and trying to mingle, who knows what could happen but, it's a 2 hour drive back home so I have to watch that cocktail intake :).

I've visited Ithaca before and it is Gorges (not a typo... Google it!)

Anyway, thanks everyone for the replies and the welcome!
