Ways to download music...am i that far out of the loop?

Alright, this might be a really dumb question but what is the deal with downloading music? Does Kazaa still exist? Were people in trouble with the law for downloading music in the US? I have been moving around a lot lately and haven't had a chance to keep up with such things. I have heard that there are no places to do this anymore, no file sharing type services.
Maybe not free ones but are thereones you can pay for? It is sad i think if people no longer have access to that anymore, i discovered so much great new music that i would have never had access to if it were not for things like this. I am thankful for that but am scared i am never going to hear anything new other than radio friendly hits, in my opinion, mostly garbage It was nice to sample different bands whose cds (if they even had one) you could never find in a music store and finding a great new (to me) band, artist, or song is a valued treasure to me. If anyone more informed wants to shed a little light on the subject for me then that would be awesome. Oh yeah, and i know about something called bit torrent (sp?) but i cannot find the diversity on that as i could on something like Kazaa. Thanks everyone and keep listenin'.

 

Kazaa you have to pay for now. Heres what you do:
1) Download morpheus (www.morpheus.com)
2) Search under software for Kazaa Lite
3) Steal it
4) Install it
5) Enjoy

 

Bearshare is another really good program. It's really fast. I don't know the exact website but go to google and search, it's easy to find. You could also try www.afternapster.com for a huge list of really good ones.

 

www.zeropaid.com is by far the best site for file sharing info. My favorite program is dc++, but it's just a matter of preference. I wouldn't recommend kazaa lite or any other fastrack appliaction (imesh, kazaa, grokster) because the fasttrack network is infested with fake files and viruses. IRC is also very good for music and other files, and it has zero fake files, but it isn't as straightforward as the other programs, therefore I wouldn't recommend it for a newbie.

dont get a person to person program. You will just get viruses. everyone i knwo that download music from thwat slowly messes their computer up. go to db.etree.org any live show you can either download or trade by many jam artists. by the way the music is free.

 

emule, xmule, amule, edonkey, mldonkey, bittorrent, etc...

 

Try www.archive.org, theres thousands of shows available for download.

 

There's also All of mp3 it's a pay site, but it's really cheap... Like $0.01 per Mb or something...

Last time I had Kazaa I got nothing but bugged files after a while. Same with Morpheus.... I've been using Bearshare since May and I have had 0 problems. If you want something that works right way, without having to worry about problems, get Bearshare :sunglasse

I'm assuming that you meant facts. If that's the case I can tell you anything you want to know about ares. I don't think that it's that hard to find info about it though. Just try google.
