I just got my lip done yesterday, a labret. I like it a lot but it's majorly crooked, the back doesn't lay flat and scrapes on my teeth and gums when I eat. The piercer said it will create a suction after a couple of days and I believe it has, but part of it still sticks out. Is the crooked-ness going to cause more rubbing after the swelling goes down? It's not incredibly swollen, just a tad. I don't want to erode my gums a crap ton. Hopefully not at all.

    awh no that sucks :(
try getting a plastic bar or something? wont damage your teeth, well not as much as the steel bar anyway!!

Also, you're going to need to change your bar down in a couple of weeks anyway when its healed, maybe the smaller bar wont be as bad!

That's what I'm thinking/hoping! Maybe wait for the smaller bar and see if it's fine, then try the plastic if all else fails??

Go back to the shop. Its there job. And trust me they want you to come back with shit like that. If it is
crooked then I would get it redone. The shop would probably do it for free. but! If the person fucked up the first time I would not be surprised if they messed up again. You know?. How many years has the person been working? Did you research piercers beforehand?.

No I didn't research her. Honestly, it was a spur of the moment thing with my friend. But it was something I had been wanting for a few years.
You can't actually tell it's crooked. I mean, I have a ball stud.

Yeah I feel you. The only thing that I would be worried about with it being crooked. Is that crooked piercings tend to mess the flesh up...will leave you with more scarring...etc. Shit like that. Which is not good. It happend to my septum piercing back in the day. And I can still look at my nose and notice how much it fucked my septum up. Then my ex gf who is a piercer schooled me all on piercings. :p

I never heard of it causing more scarring by being crooked...

But I will just talk to the piercer when i go back to get the smaller bar.

I really like the vertical labret... VERY glad I didn't let this woman do it lol.

is it definetly crooked and not just the swelling thats causing it to appear uneven?
I know from experience going back to have a bar changed after only a few days hurts like hell, worse than the piercing, is there any chance at all that the swelling is causing it to be uneven?

Even if the bar is too long, I would wait until its more established before you swap it for a smaller one, the change could cause more swelling and then you're in for some pain if you've got swelling on a shorter bar.

I've had my lip done three times, and this last time took four weeks for it to settle down, as apposed to my others which I put horseshoes in within a fortnight, and all that time I've never had any damage done to my teeth by the long labrets, the worse thing is hooking the back of the labret on top of your teeth by mistake which pulls on your lip.

LOL I always go for horseshoes

Well I went to the piercer, it's definitely crooked seeing as I didn't swell that much. It's been a week, it's still crooked as hell. But the piercer said it wouldn't need repiercing, and now it's not hitting my teeth or gums at all. I am waiting at least another week before I get the smaller bar. My friend got her's done, she get a monroe, after I did, and she had to get a bigger bar from her swelling lol, she said it hurt like hell too. So I said I'd wait a week.

    Yes it does!

My first lip piercing was done with a ring! :/

Resulting in a split lip and a lot of pain / blood when after 48 hours (would have been 24 but the shop was shut sunday) was swapped for a labret, the piercing is now 6 years old and well in place, I can go 24 - 48 hours with nothing in it, without in beginning to heal
