Anybody know where I can buy good quality pants, shirts and sweatshirts in a variety of colors? Finding plain shirts in good colors seems to be easy, but finding unmarked pants that aren't total POS is pretty hard.
I think labels look trashy and avoid them it's harde though especialy with bags. hmmm are you looking for stuff for work or just hanging out?
Clothes HAVE to come with a label/tag. It's the law. Clothing manufacturers are required to attach tags and labels, the only way you can get around that little snag is to buy clothes from a private citizen, or off of eBay. You could also just... I don't know, cut the tag out? Why is it so important that the clothing be unlabeled?
Oh wait.... did you mean label as in the name of the clothing manufacturer printed across the middle of the shirt? Like A&F or GAP, stuff like that? I'm positive you could find plain, solid color sweatsuits at Target or Walmart. Sorry about the misunderstanding.
Also check out LLBean and Lands End, and even JCPenney or Sears. I don't own any clothes that have name brands on them and I shop at all of those stores.....
yeah un label whorish clothes are pretty easy to find. the juniors department at nordstroms has some cute stuff in right now and target has some cute sweats like the previous poster mentioned also I love banana republic, tahari and theory for work stuff and suits and they rarely even have the logo on the buttons which is hard to find.
I guess I should have been more specific, sorry folks. I mean unlabled as in no huge brand names sewn across them. Finding sweatshirts and T's is easier, but usually at places like JCPenny or Target they are either A) Ugly blue, plain black, ugly red, or plain white. Or B) Still have a huge brand name or ugly design, its just a cheaper brand. Pants with no big logos on them are easier to find, but I can't help to think that if they didn't have Volcom or Quicksilver on the tag they wouldn't be 50 bucks. The cheap brand name pants NEVER (at least not when I've tried them on) fit right, and they fall apart quickly. Here is a cool place for T's that I found: http://www.shirtsupplier.com/
I thought you meant no tags too I'd just say look around, even if a store has labeled clothes that doesn't mean it'll have every piece of clothing with a label
shopping online, through independent artists, usually serves better in finding great handmade plain unlabeled items of clothing; especially if you don't wanna support sweatshop work, and corporate companies.
you should try old navy! they have LOTS of plain solid color long sleeve AND short sleeve shirts.. ive got almost all of them in most of the colors.. and they are pretty cheap too.. 6-7 bucks for a shirt.. and since its around christmas, they are having HUUUUUUGE sales right now! http://www.oldnavy.com/asp/Product.asp?wdid=200305&wpid=265474 this is where there are some good longsleeve tees.. they come in lots of different colors.. also there's tanks on the right side of the page for like 5 bucks! GOOD DEAL http://www.oldnavy.com/asp/Product.asp?wdid=200103&wpid=200669 also, the ^^jeans^^ aren't bad either... the tags are usually INSIDE the pants which is good if you dont want to see the brand and all of that.. they hold up REALLY well... i have one pair of pants from there that i have for about 3 years.. and i took them all the festivals i have been to (which is a LOT) and they have held up WELL... sorry if i sound like an old navy sales girl... but im not promise! its just like the ONE store where i can buy stuff that isn't UBER expensive! hope this helps!
If you just don't want to be a walking billboard, then I think that everyone above has pretty much covered the easily-accessible stores that don't jump at the chance to self-promote at a profit. If you don't want to support large corporations and don't mind putting in a little extra work- why don't you look around at different secondhand clothing stores? They're cheap, and you're not supporting all the repulsive things that large corporations do that you might not support. My father is a buyer for a clothing store in my area. We go down to Guatemala and buy clothes directly from indigenous people, instead of exploiting those indigenous people in sweat shops. I'm sure that you can find one of these places in your area if you're concerned about sweat shop labor.
what about recycled clothes? they're already worn a bit, so you know how they're going to stand up to washing. it can also be kindof fun to applique or patch over a fugly label
American Apparel has great quality/great priced knnit tops/bottoms/sweats etc. http://www.americanapparelstore.com/ is their web link.
find the thrift stores and REMOVE the labels. Best pair of jeans I had in a long time were labeled bannana republic ( an icky gap subsidiary...like old navy...) with my trust seam ripper ($1) I eradicated the label.
