hi. Is it right that the dutch have banned smoking in the bars like dublin, i was in amstrdam last year and was sure people were smoking ?
Yup.. you can still smoke in bars/restaurants/coffeeshops/pubs etc, unless cleary stated otherwise by a no-smoking sign. I'd love to see the no-smoking rule applied in restaurants though.. I don't really like eating with someone right next to me smoking a cigar or anything.. But for pubs and especially coffeeshops I don't really care. The are more strict laws now when it comes to smoking in public areas.. you can't smoke at the workplace or at a lot of other public businesses, like the trainstation etc. There are however special areas dedicated to smokers now in those places, so you can still have your dose of nicotine
yeah. kinda wished there was no smoking in a few of those places. But I didn't expect it, so that's okay. I agree with the restaurants, but not the bars. when I still smoked, I loved the combination of drinking and smoking. i'll still take a drag from a cigarette, but only while drinking.
It's going to be a very worrying time if and when A'dam has a full no smoking policy. I know it's already going into effect in work places, etc, and the next step is going to be everywhere else. Tourism will drop drastically, as a result, hope it never happens like Dublin, although you can still smoke out side. (shiver, shiver)
