``speed of light is the maximum in this world...``-this is a convention,of course, the nature of light is not really known...
you have to have a constant value for calculation,to build a little theory around it,like einstein did...
if we take e=mc2,e or m or c must be known by forehand, otherwise no formula...
of course we calculate something that really means nothing...

I accept that the speed of light is a constant. However I read that there are sub-atomic particles that can pop in and out of existence and from place to place instantaneously. Is anyone aware of any research on this?If a sub-atomic particle could pop from one side of the universe to the other, instantaneously, could it do this faster than the speed of light?

it also follows from quantum mechanics that every particle (electrons, etc) seems to somehow know what all the rest in the universe are doing at any given moment no matter how great the distance between them. this, to me, suggests there exists a surpassing of speed of light. whether human beings will ever be able to verify this experimentally remains to be seen.

I don't think electrons 'know' anything. There certainly is a connection with all things through the fabric of space. Gravity clearly influences all across entire galaxies. If you tug on the fabric of space, does the other side of our galaxy feel it instantly or 100 thousand light years from now?

    My theories on:
Magnetism - A displacement of space itself varying in magnitude or density.
Energy - The movement of spatial displacement (magnetism).
Matter - A conversion of linear energy propagation to orbital energy groups.
Gravity - Repulsion of spatial density through orbital energy group attractions.

what i was talking about has nothing to do with gravity. it's a seeming communication between particles. quantum mechanics isn't saying particles are alive or anything, it's just a word used to describe phenomenon observed. and this sort of communication is instantaneous, thus the perspective with speed of light.

Quantum entanglement......Einstein knew about this phenomenon but didn't really want to touch it.

The research I've read doesn't really show particles spontaneously moving from one spot to another, but rather particles effecting other particles without being in direct contact with these particles. So that wouldn't necessarily effect what we know about the speed of light.

I found this a few days ago and it reminded me of this thread a little after reading it:

Are We Living in a Holographic Universe? This May Be the Greatest Revolution of the 21st Century

    More: http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblo...-greatest-revolution-of-the-21st-century.html

Sorry if I seem to be veering off topic, OP, but the question was asked..

I remember when that CERN thing first became public and everyone (me included) was afraid that it would make a black hole, we're still here so i'm assuming it didn't

Oh yes it did! Just how many billions have been spent on building CERN and activating it,just so a select few can have their very own 'knock knock' joke?

As in 'Knock knock' "Who's there?" 'Sub atomic hyper speed particles......maybe'.

Does this mean all the studies at cern have been miscalculated?

Time in this universe moves foreward. Time can move slower in relative terms but to reverse time (exceeding light speed) means entering another universe where cause and effect carry that action foreward in that universe. I believe the theory is that when a particle leaves this universe it is replaced by a virtual particle that becomes real to fill that void.

Current measurement abilities to locate sub-atomic particles is still crude. The best that can be done is locate with some probability where a particle is most likely to be at any given moment. Einstein believed that quantum entanglement was simply our inability to know what type of spin a particle has. When a particle is split it has one of two types of spin, it also has a mirror image which is split away. Once the type of spin is determined in one it is certain that its entangled partner is the mirror of that spin.....it is called the Right and Left Glove Theory. I think he was correct.

So,to sum up-first there was nothing, then it went BANG!,then titchy bits of that nothing were found to be very fast. Fascinating.

There is no such thing as NOTHING. The phrase "Nothing is impossible" is true in the sense that NOTHING itself is impossible. SOME THINGS imaginable are also impossible but there is always SOMETHING, even if it is unknown. Even space itself is something.

I would suspect that if they are truly accurate with the experiment they will have slightly different time reading throughout the year depending on earth position because the entire solar system is moving through space as with our galaxy. If so this would actually confirm the basic principals of Einsteins relativity. It is really quite insignificant if our maximum know propagational speed of energy is off by 0.002%.

in gps you multiply the speed of light or electromagnetic field of your gps oscillator(known-300.000km/s) and the time the reflected wave comes back from the nearest satellites(indicated),so you`ll get S=v*t ,and you have the earth geometric model to know approx where you are...
in S=v*t formula you assume speed of light constant, but it`s only conventional, then S cannot be never exact calculated...
    S(variable)/t(constant-indicated)=v(must be variable...)

Looks like I was right -- researchers now think that the speed of light was not broken -- it was a faulty cable connection.

Welp, there's only one thing left to say, Einstein has the floor:
