I uploaded some videos lastweek and they took just a few minutes. But recently my videos have taken close to two hours to upload. They haven't been no longer than 10 minutes each. Any advice on how to make them upload faster? I use windows movie maker(and XP) and I have a Charter cable modem.
What about using a converter? I've seen a few youtube clips on this subject and most seem to recommend downloading some type of converter.
AVI is ok, This what yt says.. Best Formats for Uploading YouTube can accept almost any video format for upload, but for most users we have found the following settings give the best results. Video Format: H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 preferred Aspect Ratio: Native aspect ratio without letterboxing (examples: 4:3, 16:9) Resolution: 640x360 (16:9) or 480x360 (4:3) recommended Audio Format: MP3 or AAC preferred Frames per second: 30 Maximum length: 10 minutes (we recommend 2-3 minutes) Maximum file size: 1 GB
For anyone interested. After watching this video I downloaded the converter that was recommeded. It's called "Any Video Converter". I dowloaded it and converted my avi file to wmv. This helped to make my video take only about 8mins to upload to youtube as compared to the 2 hours before with avi. The video quality is slightly affected but I'am satisfied with the results overall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuQiKnA9MAY"]How to speed up youtube uploads (Tecnology Tuesdays) - YouTube
Just wanted to point out that if you have Windows Movie Maker then you might not need a converter. I've noticed while using Windows Movie Maker that it will change your video to wmv if you select "Best Quality For Playback(Recommended)" on the Video Settings screen. WMV videos seem to upload faster on youtube.
Change the resolution to 360p. If you maximize the window, it automatically changes to 480p hence longer loading times. Change it back to 360p. Or if you can take the uglyness of 240p, go for it. If it still has horrible loading time, consider upgrading your connection or changing ISP's.
Convert to AVI. I uploaded a MOV from my high def camcorder today and it took forever. first time i used the new uploader so try using the classic one if you aren't.
