Does that really excuse them? Ive seen whole news days where reporters stand outside courtrooms without getting any real news AT ALL. BBC is covering this by radio now but not CNN. On top of the media blackout all transportation is shut down around the park, hell people are even saying GOOGLE MAPS ISNT GIVING PEOPLE DIRECTIONS. This has reached police state levels of suppression.

Occupy Wall Street: New York police clearing protest

Police in New York have launched a pre-dawn operation to clear the Occupy Wall Street camp in Zuccotti Park.

The city mayor's office said on Twitter that the protesters should "temporarily leave and remove tents and tarps" but could return once the park was clear.

Occupy Wall Street was set up in September to protests against economic inequality and had been followed by dozens of protests around the world.

A camp in Oakland, California was cleared overnight on Monday.

The New York Times said that as the operation in Zuccotti Park began at about 01:00 (06:00 GMT), police gave an announcement, saying: "The city has determined that the continued occupation of Zuccotti Park poses an increasing health and fire safety hazard."

Leaflets were also handed out saying protesters would be allowed to return once the clearance had taken place, but not to bring camping equipment.

Occupants were told to "immediately remove all private property" and that they would be arrested if they interfered with the operation, said the notice. Any belongings left behind would be put into storage.

The protesters' live web stream (with 30,000 presently viewing) from the park showed crowds chanting "all day, all week, Occupy Wall Street" and "the whole world is watching" as police moved into the camp, close to New York's financial district.

"The police are forming a human shield, and are pushing everyone away," protester Rabbi Chaim Gruber told AP.

The White House is considering targeted sanctions against Syria and has underscored the point that it has evidence Iran is supporting the crackdown on peaceful protesters. President Obama condemned Syria for its "outrageous use of violence" and said the government's moves to lift the state of emergency and allow peaceful demonstrations "were not serious given the continued violent repression against protesters."

Zuccotti Park to remain closed to 'Occupy Wall Street' protesters pending hearing

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday that Zuccotti Park would remain closed to "Occupy Wall Street" protesters pending the outcome of a court hearing scheduled for 11:30am local time.

More than 1,000 police officers, some dressed in riot gear, cleared the park early Tuesday, clashing with demonstrators in the process and making almost 200 arrests. The site was subsequently cleaned by the Department of Sanitation.

At an 8:00am ET news conference, Bloomberg said, "We are now ready to reopen the park, but understand that there is a court order that we have not yet received. The park will remain closed until we can clarify that situation."

Bloomberg's comments came minutes after the public release of a New York state Supreme Court restraining order that prohibits the City of New York from preventing the demonstrators re-entering the park.

The document read, "Until the matter is heard on the date set forth above, respondents/defendants are prohibited from ... evicting protesters from Zuccotti Park [and] ... enforcing the 'rules' published after the occupation began or otherwise preventing protesters from re-entering the park with tents."

At the news conference, Bloomberg said that he had not seen the restraining order. He said that the city would keep the park closed in contradiction of the Supreme Court ruling in order to prevent a possible clash between demonstrators and authorities.

Reporters getting arrested, and attacked by police!

Julie Walker, a freelance radio reporter for National Public Radio, said she was arrested while trying to report on the protests overnight, while wearing her NYPD-issued press identification. Walker said she spent three to four hours in custody before she was released around 7 a.m. She was given a desk appearance ticket.

Reporters Angry About Media Blackout Of Zuccotti Raid At a press conference this morning, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said press were kept away "to prevent a situation from getting worse and to protect members of the press."
However, there are multiple reports of reporters being shoved, hit and arrested by New York Police Officers.
Lindsey Christ, a reporter for NY1, a local NYC cable news channel told the New York Times “Those 20 minutes were some of the scariest of my life." Christ said she witnessed police officers take a New York Post reporter standing near her and "threw him in a choke-hold."
A freelance NPR reporter was detained, as was a New York Times reporter.
Rosie Gray with The Village Voice, told a police officer, “I’m press!"

Hey everybody from the perceiver unrecognized in the lurch. You don't believe a bad government can create knowably present immoral groups of people? It might or might not know itself as bad government, but the people see through them (this isn't happening no but may in the future of an year or two). The paradox is understood as immorality for the known humans about Caring. At the same time the bad government is conceivable as incapable to Care. Otherwise we just push along in scientific regress.

Wow cops defy court order and are refusing to leave the park, breaking the law themselves. Apparently the city is appealing the court order, until 3 oclock when a different judge rules on the appeal.
