    hello there,

on my last trip, (the one that I'm on the decline from now) I saw quite a few different Egyptian symbols repeated in my head. They seemed to have some vast significance to me at the time but I'm having trouble putting the pieces back together.. anyone out there who knows things about symbols care to give me some background on the meaning of the Ankh, the sphinx, and the eye of Ra? I read about this theory that the sphinx was built as a hall of records of some kind, that even today we aren't sure why it was built, other than that.. I don't know anything about it.

    peace

    Hi:)

The Sphinx is one of the most amazing sculptures on earth.
Dont believe what traditional archeology tells you about it.
The Sphinx is way older than they claim.

On this close- up of the Sphinx you can see deep traces of erosion by water.
The last significant rains fell in the Sahara desert during the last ice age, the Sahara was green during thousands of years.
That was over 12000 years ago.
The oldest egypt monuments origin from that time before 12000 years ago as well as many other neolithic monuments like Göbleki Tepe.

typical for neolithic art are the creatures part animal part man back in a time when men were able to transfer into an animal and when the spoken word was magic.

In the past when I've tripped, I have seen various other religious figures repeated but never really tried to figure out the significance. I am an atheist in the way that I don't believe in a sentient benevolent watchdog who lives in the sky. I believe that there is some power behind symbols. One aspect of them is their ability to bring people together

If you are interested in symbols I can recommend you this to start with:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_and_His_Symbols

CG Jung is the most inspiring writer about symbolism I know of:daisy:

There is another book by him "interpretation of dreams" one the most fascinating books I ever read.

This symbol completely covered my reality on 5 hits of good acid when I relaxed my mind/eyes and stared at my ceiling, they just kept coming out of the materials and then returning into them. At the time I was not having any thoughts related to egypt/symbology etc so it was very interesting. On mushrooms and other tryptamines I find mayan/incan art motifs abound.

I have seen some south american patterns before, I saw some of that stuff last night. I guess one reason I'm looking into the symbols is because usually while tripping, some huge truth or insight is revealed to me. Not so much last night.. I even tried to focus on things like my relationship with my girlfriend Melanie and nothing really came up. I am completely happy with my relationship so it's not like I was looking to solve any problem we have. I must say that I am in the best place in my life to be taking doses, I have the most inner happiness I have ever had, and yet I still experience wanderlust and a desire for something more.. fulfilling. I would have to say that the "big truth" that got layed on me was that there are other possible ways to live communally and that it just takes me stepping outside of my current comfort zone. I watched a wonderful documentary on the counterculture, the ones that live communally and are free in their minds and spirit. that's what I want, maybe I finally picked a direction in life.

I had an experience like that on my last trip...i closed my eyes and started to see native american signs all over...by that i mean what you'd see on a traditional totem pole i guess? Like the long faces and the animals. It was tight. I saw that eye posted by writer for a while too. Idk what to make of it haha I just kept thinking 'oh wow this stuff looks cool'.

I wonder if the majority of people see stuff like this

One theory is that every single human being sees stuff like this. It's the reason why the egyptians, mayans, etc all used those symbols in the first place; they are just very simple symbols that come about easily from human neuro-circuitry, since the dawn of man. Think about what the symbols are: an eye, an animal, etc. Very primitive and archetypal things that are inescapable in the human experience.

^That is a good theory.. makes sense. I always figured it was just written somewhere in our make up, from people seeing it in the past and it just being imprinted in our subconscious.

One time I was on 3 hits of some good lucy, and I was staring at a bathroom wall at this very textured bumpy paint job. I was looking at the textures moving and morphing with these bright colors, and I got closer and closer to the wall, and I looked real close.. and all of sudden I was staring at a perfect 3D image of an Egyptian Temple. It had intricate hieroglyphs around the sides, a door with columns, and two of the dog headed god people guarding the door to the temple. Like really high resolution high detail imargery of this ancient architecture. Even the lines between the stones could be seen. Still one of Lsd unsolved mysterys.

Ummm.... Dunno what to tell ya.

On psychedelics I tend to see stylized (all too often in a generic grateful dead poster way) lettering in the texture on walls. It's no mystery where they got that style.

I've also had fever dreams or similar delerious states dominated by lettering/text.

Or mathematical symbols. Things with some importance to me. I mean, I'd expect your brain chose things the same way. Important memorable icons and figures. The same way they originally became symbols, and kept being passed down as symbols.
