I believe change is coming. It might not be for another 10 years where things really get twisted but its coming. Its coming, it has to, no course will not remain the same, in my opion its inevitable that change will come. People are waking up. Eventually something will happen, good or bad, its coming.
"No matter how hard you try You can't stop us now... Since the prehistoric ages and the days of ancient Greece right down through the middle ages planet Earth kept going through changes Then the Renaissance came and times continued to change Nothing stayed the same but there were always renegades... Destroy all nations Destroy all nations Destroy all nations..."
modern efficient killing machines often with psychological problems (if killing isnt always a psychological problem)...

Its close ties with Hollywood and the video games industry is helping turn military service into an attractive deal with the economic crisis and unemployment working alongside. RT's Anastasia Churkina reports on how it's all playing out for America's youth.
Yeah, thank god for Gavrilo Princip. If it hadn't been for him nobody would have assasinated that blasted Archduke. Then what would our brave men have had to be courageous about?
WWII was the last war that a soldier had any opportunity to fight with honor. what are we thanking veterans for anymore? i dont know. given the event that veterans day is based on, ending all major hostilities of WWI, it seems more fitting to embrace and celebrate peace on that day.
Armistice day was the recognition of the ending of world war 1. It was signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. If you appreciate any of the freedoms that you have, thank a veteran. If you do not wish to acknowledge that without those who did serve we could all be living in a very different time, then stay silent and allow those who respect the service given to our countries to offer our remembrance. I do not support the wars or interference of governments but I do support those who serve.
i just don't believe like that. its making a huge jump in logic to say that veterans had anything to do with freedom. how can you not support wars but support warriors? aren't the wars where freedom supposedly came from?
I'm leaning more and more toward there being no real freedom... more cultural conditioning to accept a particular system of bondage as freedom. That would be more or less universal.
Do you think it possible to unravel said conditioning and if so, where does that put us in relation to the status quo?
I do not support the current trend of greed and political gain that is wrapped up in the guise of war and liberation. That is the war machine and it has little to do with the troops as none of those decisions are theirs to make. I do not think it is any jump at all, or even presumptuous to state that without a military we would all be living in a different world than we do. In some cases as of late that might not be a bad thing. In general though in a global setting without a military we would not have the same life that we do. Those who would choose to control others do not always believe in personal freedoms and rights. Even though arguably our own countries do not necessarily do so either, at the very least we still have more freedoms than many other places in the world. The difference in supporting the troops is that they are sent to do what is asked of them. That they serve and follow orders and are required to do things that no person should be and live with it. They do so and then return to a country that they have served to be met with disdain for doing what was asked of them. We treat our veterans terribly. My silence on Remembrance Day is for those who have served. Those who did what was asked of them. As far as freedoms, those who have represented our countries do so so that we may have the right to sit and complain about it. That is a freedom. I have no issue with someone not sharing the same view as I do but I do have an issue with someone being disrespectful on that one day of the year. We have 364 other days to voice an opinion, therefore perhaps on the one day a year we should refrain from doing so. Perhaps my views are also influenced as I grew up Military. I know where my father served and I know there were things he just would and did not talk about. Like most Veterans.
What comes to my mind is the butterfly effect: go back in time, kill a butterfly, and things today are different for it. So what? Also, other countries have freedoms without having to rampage around the world on a murder spree. i am open to loving and respecting all people. i hesitate about jumping on a bandwagon of respecting a certain group of people if i feel like so many people on that bandwagon are fucked. i just dont see it. i dont see how unjust wars give us the freedom to complain about unjust wars. neither do i. i don't pretend to respect something that i don't understand. i don't respect people that don't deserve respect. i dont disrespect people that deserve respect. whether they are veterans or veterinarians. both of my grandfathers were WWII vets, as many others' are. my step brother is a veteran. a good friend is a veteran. my views are under construction.. i'm just thinking off the top of my head.
mostly by giving them possibly the best healthcare and "retirement" pensions in the world ....all provided by the young workers who get it deducted off their paychecks ...the ones who know there will be no money left in the fund once they themselves are old enough to retire
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I do understand your position and why. To be honest with you I think that many feel exactly the same way. If you do not separate the veterans from the government or policy makers then the line does blur. I instead see the individual who serves and takes orders or direction as that is their job. I did enjoy your thoughts on this subject.
Veterans are still fighting for benefits that are being denied as the governments involved will not acknowledge their claims. They can and will diagnose a vet with PTSD and will provide treatment, until that vet acts out because of the PTSD and then they discharge them. That can be any reason, even a DUI can result in being discharged. Once they do that they are no longer eligible for benefits. The first nations who served in WW1, WW2 and Korea are still fighting for benefits that they have not been granted as vets. They have not and will not address the issues from the war involving the health of those troops. Instead they choose to deny that any factors caused illness. Those making a claim because of health are waiting up to two years, sometimes longer. The list is endless.
